New Zealand Cycle Classic
1st stage

A short 6 km time trial was a perfect stage to start a year. Our guys felt great before and after the start. We really feel that we can get some good results over here.
Our main rider for this one was Troels Ronning Vinther, one of the best sprinters in team. He is in quite good form. He definitely isn't the best TTer at the team. This time, one the paper, one of the favourites was also our rider, Michael Valgren Andersen, but seems like he doesnt have legs for today. Race will show who is the best.
Not pretty much to show with pictures,we got only 1 and thats how Vinther looked alike on his bike. He did a great job getting 4th position!

And here are the stage results:

New Zealand Cycle Classic
2nd stage

"Short" first real stage of the year. Great time to check out what we have.
After morning break is caugh first real attack started. Breakaway riders were Cesar Fonte (Efapel) , Gustavo César Veloso (OFM) and Josef Hosek (Bauknecht - Author). All of them sprinted at first intermediate sprint. Veloso took most points from it.

Riders from 1st group is riding pretty fast today. Nothing to be shown at 2nd mountain sprint except that no one attacked/sprinted for it. Also,as you can see in background , Alex Peters (Madison - Genesis) was closing to them, trying to join breakaway before its late.

Alex finally caught them. Nothing really interesting at 2nd mountain checkpoint, either.

Fonte took this one.
Cesar Veloso got all "mountain" glory from next 2 mountain checkpoints ,again without fight.
Nothing changed 'till 20kms to go. Group at the front is still compact trying to get like that at finish line. As the time passing ,gap is lower and lower. Can they keep it up?

They were strong but seems like 10 vs 4 men was just too much. Peloton got Peters and Hosek. Veloso is very near to the peloton , only Fonte is attacking.

They finally got him at 7km to go,they prepared for sprint and its beggining.
What a bad position-choosing for Vinther, firstly he sat on Zabels wheel but Zabel just fell 10 positions back and gone again at the top. Vinther couldnt keep that rythm and he stood without "wheel to follow". Meanwhile, Sterobo was on Edgars wheel and he started sprint.

At the end,Eeckhout took the win. Old , but strong enough to fight with these, most of them, youngsters.

Vinther started late sprint and finished as 10th,he had energy for much better place, but thats what we have to be happy with. See ya tommorow!

Good start with Troels and a nice choice of team. There's a lot of good talent here and the team has a great history with Glud & Marstrand as main sponsor.
The team is based 10 km from where I grew up, so they have a special place in my heart
