Hi everybody! My question is: has anyone tried to change the values of xml files contained in xml\simu\ folder of the game?
I love simulating stages, and i only play 3d races like Milan Sanremo or WC, so I would like to make the classic rapid simulation more realistic and detailed. I modified some value, but I need some tips on editing this kind of files.
So can you help me?

If I remember correctly, somebody did already. Try the forum search.

Yup, that was me.
https://www58.zipp.../file.html
These are my PCM11 files, they should work at PCM12. The problem with PCM12 is, that gene_time_gap is defined by the game and not changeable anymore. But the gap is a major point in simulating. It defines which values are chosen to calculate the result.
All in all i would be happy if some of you could simulate some races with my files and give me feedback.

Hi just send u a PM. I think time gap values are defined in the _Peloton files. Give it a try. I lowered some value and time gaps lowered too!!!Another tip I can say to lower gaps is to give a higher value to the AverageSpeed in _Main files. The higher the speed, the lower the gaps!!!

I didn't mean the time gap, i meant the time gap from this column in the xml files: <function name="Classification_Sprint_GapLessThan10" log="2">. Before PCM12 it could be edited in a .cdb editor, but this isn't possible anymore, because it's defined by the game.
But i'll give you some examples what i already found out:
Let's take a look at flat stages. As riders to compare we take Cavendish and Sagan, two different sprinter types. (However i take the stats from my own edited db.)
Some stats we need:
Cav Sagan
SP: 82 79
HIL: 66 79
MO: 60 70
ACC: 83 82
END: 79 78
Form: 75 90
Random 50 35
The finish is flat, so the <function name="Classification_Sprint_GapMoreThan10" log="2"> is important:
Sagan: 79*9 - 70*1 + 90 + 0*78 +35 =766
Cavendish: 82*9 -60*1 + 75 + 0*79 +50 = 803
So Cavendish would win quite easily, if we premise that no one was in the breakaway, had a puncture, or had to work, because that would influence the result.

Also defined as flat, but with a uphill finish. So if the gap is set to less than 10, <function name="Classification_Sprint_GapLessThan10" log="2"> is the deciding thing.
Sagan: 79*1 + 79*5 + 82*4 + 90 + 35 + 0*78 = 927
Cavendish: 82*1 + 66*5 + 83*4 +75 +50 +0*79 = 869
Cavendish doesn't even stand a chance. |

Some things i have changed in my files:
-> Stage races with less than 10 stages doesn't get won by a guy from a break away anymore (or almost anymore)
-> more differed uphill/flat finish results
-> more focus on form (you can control that by value you give the single stats)
-> group finishes on hilly stages or even on mountain stages are possibly (it is controlled by elevation gained on stages, so at a hilly stage with a altitude of 1000m a group of maybe 30-40 riders would finish together, at a stage with an altitude of 3000m there would be small groups and bigger gaps)
-> almost no more sprinters winning mountain stages from breakaways |

good work! I've got some question...what do you mean to control form?? And....why you multiplicate per 9 the sprint value? I lowered it a lot!

another thing...how do you know the random value on each cyclist??? I thought it was a value between 0 and 50 the ia attributed randomly to cyclists.

I set sprint to 9 in my simulation file for flat stages with a flat finish, Form and Random i just took values for my example to make my point clear. |

The one thing i don't know is, how the form is used in calculation. I am pretty sure it is not just an addition factor as in my example above. It must be something with more impact, even though i haven't found the right column yet. |

ok....have u tried to put in the column PreClassification of _main files ===> <inrace_charac name="FO" coeff="2" log="2"/>
don't konw if the right thing is FO or FOR
let me know what do you find!
Another question. Is it true that VAL value doesn't matter? I read somewhere that MO and VAL weights in the stages are established into the game, so the only value that interacts with those xml files is the mountain one? True???

I have changed pretty much all classification columns, so PreClassification and Classification in Flat_, Hill_ and Mountain_Main.

That's true in 3D mode, if you play the stage yourself. As far as i know there is a hill/mountain ratio and it defines whether hill or mountain stats are used.
In simulation hill and mountain is different. |

give a look to the basic hill_main. It says nothing about VAL but only MO. That's strange in my opinion. I tried to put also VAL value but nothing changes....what do u think??

You need to name it HIL instead of VAL. I just tested it again and if you put HIL as only factor that matters in a flat stage, it definitely works. Nibali won, Uran 2nd, Gasparotto 3rd in a plain flat stage. So the hill value works, even though its not in there in the original files. |
