After carefully considering all of your thoughts i have decided to go with the team Gerolsteiner for this story. In accordance with real life at the end of 2007 (as this story will surely get there ) Gerolsteiner will withdraw its sponsorship from the team and new sponsors will have to take over. I will try to do regular updates and keep them pretty short unless they are for an important race. One of the most important aspects of a story i feel is realism and so i will do the bulk, if not all of my recruiting from Gerolsteiners four main countries, Germany, Austria, Italy and Switzerland
Feel free to suggest any changes or advice for the story throughout the whole "journey"
Team Gerolsteiner 2007
Absolute Leaders
David Kopp
Easily the best cobbler in the team who will represent us and hopefully do well in all of the cobbled classics.
Main focus: Paris Roubaix, Gent - Wevelgem, Tour de Flanders
Davide Rebellin
One of the best Puncheurs in the world of cycling who will be looking do get us results over the whole year but particularly in the "Big 3"
Main focus: L-B-L, Amstel Gold Race, La Fleche Wallone.
Robert Forster
A rider nearing his mature years but could still improve - along with Haussler will form a formidable sprint team.
Main focus: Tour de France, Milano - San Remo
Other vital riders:
Bernhard Kohl
Really the teams only chance of a top ten finish in any of the Grand Tours, this young rider promises great things.
Main Focus: two of Giro de Italia, Tour de France, Gran Vuelta Espana
Heinrich Haussler
A young sprinter who will be one of the best sprinters in the world in no time at all.
Stefan Schumacher
Puncheur who will take over the reins from Rebellin in the future.
Entire Squad
The new signings are:
Diego Ulissi
Nico Keinath
Stefan Schaefer
Tim Ulbrich
Goals & Important Races
Some quite difficult goals in my opinion, especially the top ten in the TDF which will be asking a lot of Kohl.
and finally:
Sponsors
All German sponsors for now with some big names amongst them.

The first race for the team in which we wont send either of our strongest sprinters to compete in. Instead we send a team which will be lead by David Kopp and one of the two Zberg brothers but our expectations are not too high in a field which contains sprinters such as boonen, mcewen and freire.

The first stage is the only non sprinters stage of the race, a 6km team time trial.
We were pleased to be the second team home, a result which puts us in an ideal position to compete for the overall lead.

Our leaders were nervous this morning as they contemplated the task ahead of them. Today would see them test their legs against much more highly rated sprinters and see how they stack up.
A break got away and was pulled back in, as the sprint wound up Zberg had found a good postion on Boonens wheel as Kopps legs failed him and he went backwards.
But Zberg wasn't having a particularly good day and couldnt stick to Boonen, who didnt do too well himself, finishing outside the top ten behind the new Australian Champion Robbie McEwen.
Results
Rigotto now holds the overall lead thanks to Milrams performance in the TTT

After yesterday the boys were a bit disgruntled but today they seem determined to improve on their disappointing results.
Again a breakaway goes and is brought back and the sprints winds up, but disaster strikes for Kopp, he falls taking 3 riders down with him.
Kopp is injured and so in Wrolich, when he goes down in a second group of riders, shortly after.
Zberg was getting a good run on Usov's wheel and held on to take 4th
Results
Rigotto still holds the jersey and Zberg is now in 5th place

Kopp was still carrying an injury after his crash and unfortunately Zberg couldnt get a good result as McEwen narrowly edged out Freire for the win.

Rigotto still leads - Zberg still in fifth place

January
A nothing month for us and for most teams
Awards
our rider of the month
Markus Zberg
Markus has undoubtedly represented our team the best in the month of January, competing against much stronger riders to hold 5th place in the Tour of Qatar.

Kopp was feeling much better this morning and would be able to participate in the sprint to help Zberg try and move up into the top three.
As the sprint came around both of our guy had pretty good positions
At the finish line we saw a great result for us as Kopp and Zberg took 3rd and 4th respectively as young Dekkers outsprinted Boonen.
Results
Everything is still the same after todays stage.

You should have slowed Kopp to give Zberg 3rd and the bonus seconds

I have made the first but inevitable blunder in this story as it appears i was taking my screenshots when my screenshot program was not actually open - hence no screenshots. So from memory...
Tour of Qatar - Stage 6
Zberg was able to claim 3 bonus seconds but it wasn't enough to shift him up the rankings, finishing fifth, 2 seconds behind Rigotto and 4 oh his Milram Teammates.
i also missed screens on the first stage of the Challenge Vuelta Mallorca but I'll detail that after the preview.

We send a team lead by our young guns, Stefan Schumacher and Heinrich Haussler to compete in this star heavy race. Also competing are Tom Boonen, Samuel Sanchez, Danilo Di Luca and Micheal Boogerd.

This is the stage that i missed the screens for but it was a standard stage with the break going and coming back and as the sprint wound up Haussler got third wheel behind Boonens lead-out man and Boonen - this caused Boonen to have to lead Haussler out but he was only able to take third in the end behind Freire and Boonen, he now leads the youngest riders competition.
