Why would you want to know? Does it make a difference at all? Does it determine how you view people?

This topic simply doesnt belong into a forum. Yes there is religious freedom, freedom of speech etc, but not everyone is open minded about (other) religion(s)...

BTW: Why did you leave Judaism out? That could be an indication about your view on people already...

Interesting Wink Quite a personal and controversial question.

Well, I "voted" for Atheism. I haven't been raised religious in any way, I'm not baptized etc. Of course I've dealt with the topic, I've spoken to a lot of people about if, people of many beliefs, but the idea of any kind of deity always seemed odd to me.

Geez, how is it that the pure question about religion is already offensive? I think it's a pity that religion became some sort of taboo. I mean, why would you imply that the question about it has anything to do with his view on the people? No offense, but that is a vicious insinuation (and yeah, I know you said could and all but still). Plus, no one is forced to talk about it. It's a possibility for people who are interested in talking about this topic.

Also, I think religion is so important for many people that it is a necessity to talk about it as much as possible! After all, there are so many conflicts because of religions or, much more, because of the misunderstandings of the other one's religion. I don't think it helps to not talk about it.

That only indicates I myself am not Judaist, because I wouldn't have forgotten it in that scenario. Sorry if I offended anyone.

Oh, I myself am Christian, but certainly not a good example:

- Last time I visited a church was over a year ago
- I never voluntarily read the Bible (only at primary school, which was a Christian one)
- I don't think the Bible's stories (especially in the Old Testament) are facts; rather methaphors.
- I do believe in evolution, which is in contradiction to the Bible. Also the big bang theory seems credible to me.

But the point is; everything must have started somewhere, for me that is God.

In certain times, people wouldnt have made the mistake of leaving out a specific religion purposely... Wink
@Cunego: Im certainly Not indicating that it is offensive at all. Its just something that immediately caught my attention and I related it to the 3 questions/observations I stated at the top... Sometimes, I am just very observant (even if at second glance).
And you are right, nobody is forced to talk about it. I certainly keep my views on religion to myself, cause I know, that they will offend some people... Its just how it is. It is gonna be the same with the views of the Islamic (i.e.: The war against terror, which was a great propaganda machine for the US) or the view of Buddhism (rebirth and all). There is always someone or two who will not agree with it, and will probably voice it in the forum... THats my whole point.
(Sorry if I offended anybody.)

P.S.: I should really put that sentence at the end of all of my posts, just to be sure. I am not in the most positive of moods lately Wink

I kind of understand that. But on the other hand: If you don't say anything that might somehow offend other people, then you might end up not being able to say anything at all. I have made the experience that you can debate over controversial topics like religion very civilized. Of course it always depends on who you're talking to, and you're right, on the internet, you'll never know, but as long as you're arguing politely and stay impersonal and sort of objective, you're okay. Because (at least that is my opinion), if someone's offended then, that's his/her problem, not yours.

Bottom line: You can't always please everyone, but that shouldn't stop you from starting a discussion in the first place. Again, my opinion only, I don't know if you've made contrary experiences or have your reasons Wink

Just to lighten the mood here: You clearly never had dinner with my family...Wink Thats an open war about everything, Be it Music, Sports... And it all comes back to religion and Politics...

But, I do get your point. Just voicing my experience in a bit more general ways.

I agree 1000%, its just not appropriate for a forum especially PCM Daily..

Is there a certain reason you care?

EDIT - Now that I read the actually thread, I apologize for going on a rant... Kind of weird that you are curious though

Im not really curious as that, but I was arguing my point. I have mentioned all I am going to say about this topic, cause the only time I argue about religion at all, is when I talk to friends, and want to keep it that way.

Now Politics is a different story. I gladly argument my point and Im curious about other peoples views too, speaking of people that I dont know personally, like on this forum...

But Religion always ends up as a touchy topic for some people...

I was brought up religious, but over time I realized I am quite happy with a naturalistic explanation of the world and to me it makes sense.

My dad was forced to be confirmated, never touch a church since then (i think...). So i only beleave in scientifics. And the Big Bang theory seem quite real to me. But i respect other peoples religion, it's there choise, and if they wan't to beleave what they beleave, then why not let them? And who says what i beleave is correct?

What is the difference between believing in the Big Bang theory and believing in God? Both are never to be proved neither could you explain it.

Why should I believe anything which I cannot prove.
The only thing I believe is "minimum impact". This somehow explains it, but I try to apply it to the whole world.
