We all know that this weekend and next week, the final matches for the Euro 2008 will be played.
So talk here about the good/bad/ugly/nice things that happened. Rant about your national team not qualifying, or just rant about them qualifying, but without showing good football.
We can also laugh about the Brits when Russia defeats Israel. Or laugh about the Russians when they fail to win agains said country.
Anyway, today the Dutch team can qualify if they win against Luxemburg. Our genius fucker..uhh, coach, Van Basten, decided to play 4-4-2 instead of 4-3-3 (finally, we have no wingers). But now he refuses to call it that way, and says we're playing 3-2-3-2
I think we'll play sucky again but win 1-0, because Luxemburg sucks anyway and Vd Sar saves everything.
Furthermore I hope Scotland knocks out Italy or France. I hope Russia qualifies instead of England. Because the more top countries go to the EC, the more suckier we will do. The worst of it, because of the record of winning we Dutch will land in pot 1, together with Switzerland/Austria and Greece (hosts + defending champ), which will suck, because a group of Holland-France-Italy-Germany is then a possibility.... so hopefully well lose some ranking points and end in pot 2... |

Even if England/Italy/France wont be there, Holland will suck Ruben as long as Van Basten is our head coach

I know, we'll allways suck, but even though we suck, we win a lot of matches, because Van Basten is a lucky ass, and we have Van der Sar |

Come on Scotland!!! Hopefully we'll go all the way, although beating Italy is a tall order. The perfect scenario for me will be a Scotland and Russia victory.
I'm not anti-English but its time the english public, or more to the point - english media, woke up and realised that England are not in fact world class, are severly overrated and hired the wrong coach (I think this is something we can all agree on).
I'm not saying England don't have good players, because they do, but its not spread across the team and they have no depth. If Gerrard, Lampard and Hargreaves were injured, who do you play? The emphasis on star players has left the squad with no team spirit, and I think one look at Scotland explains how important that is! |

You play Carrick/Reo-Coker/Nolan/Cole/Downing/Young/ or someone else
I think we have great players and good depth, we just don't play as a team, we play like all the players are still playing for different teams. But i didn't come into this thread to talk about the players
Macedonia striker Ilco has said "Don't worry - we'll save you" to the England team this morning.
on the flip-side, the Israel manager has said "I love Guus Hiddink"

Go Scotland!
Go Macedona and Israel!
Go Luxembourg! (A loss to Luxembourg for Holland may get you your coach sacked, which is what you seem to want).

Apart from Carrick and Cole (whos not really solid enough in the middle for international football) the others are really not that good. Nolan was good for a season, same as Reo-Coker. Downing is a winger, and Young is a right back. A central midfield of Carrick and Cole - not good enough really (with a lack of team spirit and understanding), thus proving my point. |

I put Downing because he could play left-midfield and Cole could swap to the middle.
I was talking about Ashley Young, who could play on the right and put Beckham in the middle.
There are lots of possibilities although not all of them are as good as they co be i suppose

We all know the big game today, Sweden-Spain
No, but seriously, here is hoping for a swedish point so we can qualify today and not have any pressure in the last game. |

Carrick doesn't perform well on the international stage, Reo-Coker just isn't good enough, Nolan is only good at his club, Cole dives, and therefore should never be allowed to play football for England... the list goes on. We have no depth, and the team has no passion. They lack drive, they don't look like they want to win and give it 100% for their country. And that's just inexcusable

c'mon, everyone loves laughing at the french . especially when Papin and Cantona were involved.

hopefully the latter. I have nothing against the french. just against the french players' attitudes whenever they win anything.

how can France end in pot 2, Italy in 3 and Germany in 4?

yes, because Scotland has a lot of stars they can cut out of the team

when I saw them couldn't believe how much Belgium sucked. what happened?
and now that you finally get a youngster with potential (Defour) he turns out to have a horrible attitude...

which is quite odd considering how they all want to play in England and not go abroad. then again, that happens with british people in all jobs, not just sport.

Don't ask me, it was in all newspapers, it's the uefa's ranking system... and because france, italy and germany fucked up in previous european championships (2004 portugal, all out in 1st round) they are very low... |

No it's true
Think about it, Germany went out in first round of EC 2000 and EC 2004
Italy and France went out early in 2004.
That's what's it based on...dude |

Finland has just narrowly beat Azerbeijan 2-1 after being behind until the 80th minute.
and the sad part is that portugal will actually suffer trying to beat them.
