Hey guys, I'm Wesley Hoogenboom, the new signing of ITV, and new in the peloton. I'm 28 years old, and I'm a climber. I started with professional Cycling very late, I was more a football guy. I wasn't that talented, but I worked really hard and even made it into the youth academy of Feyenoord. I turned out to be not good enough. I wasn't happy with that, but I got over it. Cycling was my second hobby, and when I didn't feel like playing football, I went outside on my bicycle. You might wonder, how did he get a climber in the Netherlands? Well, good one. There were some small hills nearby, but I went a lot to the Ardennes and southern Germany. I got picked up by the Rabobank Continental team when I was about 19, but I lacked time, since they trained far away from my house, and I needed time for my study. But my study is done for a few years now, so I decided to return to my own hobby, Cycling. I turned out pretty good, won some small races, and many teams were interested. But with the collapse of the UCI, I had to start over with impressing the teams, since all the teams disappeared.
It worked though, and ITV looked promising, so I signed a 2 years contract.
I'm very happy that ITV signed Andy Schleck, he's one of my favourite cyclists. I know that I can win a GT someday. The question is when? and do I get opportiunities to try? My only problem is that I lack in TTs...

Wesley finally breaks the silence in the team.
Wesley Hoogenboom said to the local press that he wants to have it clear. What will his role be at the GT's? Can he lead a GT, can he have a free role, or does he have to be a domestique? If so, he wants to have sufficient leader roles in the smaller races. Wesley: ''I signed a nice contract, but I want something in return.''

Hoogenboom is okay with the roles the team manager promised him, he told the Dutch press. He didn't expect a GT leader role, so it was no shock that he didn't get it. ''Still, I'm happy that I may lead the team in at least 4 different WT races'' he said. He told the press that he of course secretly hopes that he can lead a GT next year, but that will depend of his development. He also said that he forgives the manager the silence which was over this team. ''Everyone deserves a short break, even though it's even before the season starts. I think that, with this manager, it's going to be a great season''
