Welcome to Kenya Airways – Barclays Team’s HQ. We are a Continental team, who hope to have great success in the years to come. We are a Kenyan – British team, who will prioritise the Africa Tour.
Our Sponsors:
Kenya Airways:
Kenya Airways, is the flag carrier of Kenya. The company was founded in 1977, after the dissolution of East African Airways. The carrier's head office is located in Embakasi, Nairobi, with its hub at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport. The airline was wholly owned by the Government of Kenya until April 1995, and it was privatised in 1996, becoming the first African flag carrier in successfully doing so. They will be our main sponsor, and would like us to sign African as well as Kenyan riders, and focus on the Africa tour.
Barclays
Barclays is a British multinational banking and financial services company headquartered in London, United Kingdom. It has operations in over 50 countries and territories across Africa, Asia, Europe, North America and South America and around 48 million customers. As of 31 December 2010 it had total assets of US$ 2.33 trillion, the fourth-largest of any bank worldwide. They will be our co-sponsor over the forthcoming season, and will be hoping for us to sign some British riders.
Adidas
Adidas is a German sportswear company, who will be supplying our kit. They have a great reputation for producing great sports clothing and we jumped at their offer to make our kit.
Specialized
Specialized will be supplying our helmets over the season. They are supplier to many teams and are a perfect make for us.
Pinarello:
Pinarello are our final sponsor, and will be supplying our frames. They have a great reputation, and we will embrace using their frames.

Goals:
Tour of Britain Top 10: - FAILED
Our first goal is a C1 race, which we hope to race in. We hope to sign an African Hill rider, who could achieve this goal. We would target stage 6, which would be our main chance to get a high placing on the GC.
Kwita Izina Win: - FAILED - 9th
Our win goal is in the Kwiza Izina, which we will send a full strength team and hope to claim the GC.
Giro del Capo Top 5: - ACHIEVED - 5th
Next is the Giro del Capo in South Africa. This race will be targeted by a potential African Climber, who is also a target.
Cauberg Classic Top 5:
The Cauberg classic will also be targeted, as it looks to be an interesting race that we would really like to be involved in.
Top 10 CT Team Rankings:
Last up is the Continental Team rankings. We think a top 10 is realistic, and hope to maybe even promote if things go well.
So 16pts Overall, not too ambitious but we think it’s very achievable.

As the only manager currently with Kenyan riders, I guess you might be interested
Well, Ndbri just went to the free agency and Kiprotich could be available

I currently fail to see any significance in TOB's stage 2, but I guess you have a plan

@Pelli & Cio: Both mistakes, fixed now
@SN: Ndbri is definetly a big target, and we would definetly be interested in any Kenyan riders available (as there are only 5 ) |

Kenya Airways have started to reveal riders of interest for the upcoming transfer season so far three riders have been revealed. Ndbri, Ben Nasser and Dowsett were the names that were presented to the press
Team Manager FroomeDog commented: 'These riders are only targets. We have others, but in an ideal world we would like to sign two, maybe all three of these riders, to be our leaders. If we secured these signatures the team would be built around them, and we would pay over the odds to sign them. That is all for today.' |

Hello to the new African team, with cool plans and cool jersey.
We will certainly meet during transfer season. And btw. Ben Nasser could end up with salary close to maybe two thirds of your whole salary cap imo.

Any attempts to sign Dowsett will be a wasted effort 0 chance that the British champion leaves Jaguar

Kenya Airways - Barclays have signed their first five riders for the 2013 season, with three of them being minimum wage:
Tarik Chaoufi: 111,000
Tarik has been signed as a leader in the hills. He will hopefully produce some great results when the road starts to go up.
Riadh Ghdamsi: 55,000
Riadh has been signed as a domestique, who is good on the flat and can tt.
Matthew Brammeier: 50,000
Matthew was signed to be a final leadout, and even lead the team in sprints.
Suleiman Kangangi: 50,000
Suleiman is another Kenyan domestique, suited to the hills.
Daniel Njoroge: 50,000
Daniel is great value for 50k. His climbing skills will be very helpful in the forthcoming season

Now that we have officially finished with transfers, here is our team Presentation:
Name: Yasmani Martinez
Country: Cuba
Main Stats: 76 Mo, 73 TT, 72 Hill
Role: Leader
Wage: 265,000
Season Target: Win the Giro del Capo
Yasmani will lead us in stage races over the forthcoming season. He was signed at a very expensive wage but we are happy that we can have a Leader for stage races as we really were lacking one. His season target is to win the Giro del Capo. Even though our goal is a top 5 Yasmani hopes to go one better.
Name: Zakayo Ndbri
Country: Kenya
Main Stats: 77 Mo, Sta 76, 69 Hill
Role: Leader
Wage: 155,000
Season Target: Top 3 Kwita Izina
Zakayo was an ideal signing for us as we are a Kenyan team. He will lead at races where there are no Time Trials and as many Mountainous stages as possible. His season target is a Top 3 in our win goal the Kwita Izina, which we hope to win but we fear may be taken by a certain Arroyo. A top 3 will be sufficient.
Name: Tarik Chaoufi
Country: Morocco
Main Stats: 75 Hill, Sta 76, Fl 73
Role: Leader
Wage: 111,000
Season Target: Top 3 Cauberg Classic
We needed a good hill rider at the start of the window with us targeting The Cauberg Classic and The Tour of Britain. With Tarik we have that rider. We believe he can compete with the best at C2 level due to his high Stamina, so his main target will be to improve on our goal and snatch a Top Three in Holland.
Name: Nico Schinker
Country: Luxembourg
Main Stats: 77 Spr, 75 Acc, Sta 70
Role: Sub-Leader
Wage: 50,000
Season Target: 5 Stage Wins
Nico will be our lead sprinter. He will not be dominating any race anytime soon with riders like Maksimov in the Continental Tour. His stats are not really worthy of a lead sprinter so he will mostly be racing for stage wins in long stage races that other top sprinters do not attend. We have given him a goal of 5 stage wins, which is hopefully achievable for a second tier sprinter in C2 races.
Name: Iker Camaño
Country: Spain
Main Stats: 74 Mo, 74 Res, 70 TT
Role: Sub-Leader
Wage: 50,000
Season Target: Get a Top 5 in a Stage Race
At 50,000 Iker is a bargain. He will mainly be a chief domestique for Martinez but we hope he can pick up some top 5’s along the way. His Season Goal is therefore to achieve a top 5 in the GC in any stage race where he can.
Name: Daan Rijntjes
Country: Holland
Main Stats: 75 TT, 75 Prl, 72 Fl
Role: Sub-Leader
Wage: 50,000
Season Target: Top 3 Windhoek TT
Daan is one of the best Rouleurs in the Continental Tour. He will be a domestique in races with time trials in and when the TT bike is required we hope he can deliver. The Windhoek TT is a good race for Daan because we are of course an African team and this time trialling classic is perfectly designed for him.
Name: Matthew Brammeier
Country: Ireland
Main Stats: 77 Acc, 74 Spr, 71 TT
Role: Super Domestique
Wage: 50,000
Season Target: Stage Win FDB Eire Tour
Matthew is our second strongest sprinter. He will be a domestique in most of his races but like Nico, he hopes he can pick up a win or two along the way. His Season Target is to win a stage of the FDB Eire Tour in his native country of Ireland and we can confirm he will lead us in this race if we get entry.
Name: Alejandro Marque
Country: Spain
Main Stats: 74 TT, 71 Mo, 71 Res
Role: Super Domestique
Wage: 50,000
Season Target: Top 5 in a stage race
Alejandro is similar to Iker, but is stronger on the time trial bike. He has the same season goal as Iker as well because they were already good friends before the opportunity arose for both of them to come to our team on minimum wage. He will mainly target time trial heavy stage races.
Domestiques:
Yusuf Abrekov
Good Mountain rider who can ride on the hills. Ndbri's chief domestique.
Behnam Khalilikhosroshami
Our second best hill rider, loaned in from PFG - Armavia. Chaoufi's main man.
Vahid Ghafari
Allrounder. Can ride in the mountains and sprint. Another loanee.
Helpers:
Henrique Madeira Casimiro
Good rider for minimum wage. Can pull a mountain train.
Daniel Njoroge
Good quality Kenyan. Another one for the mountains.
Suleiman Kangangi
Good puncheur. Can take a stage from a break.
Mutjaba Hussein
Loaned in from Jaguar - Eritel. Kenyan TT champ.
Hillary Kiprotich
Will develop into a solid puncheur. Signed from Jaguar as well.
Daniel Eliad
Another from PFG - Armavia. Can ride up a mountain decently, about it.
Riadh Ghdamsi
Can TT and ride on the flat. Also a good fighter. One for the breaks.
Yoann Paillot
Loanee from Festina - Canal+. Can Time trial.
Overall, we think we are about halfway in terms of placing within our division. Only time will tell if we have signed the right riders.

I really like the team that you've got. Ndbri and Martinez will both be great leaders for you this season and Chaoufi should definitely bring in a lot of points. I'd put you in the top half of the division for sure.

Thanks, hopefully we can be up there
As for our leaders Ndbri was a must-buy, and we felt we needed a stage racer and a puncheur for our goals. Martinez and Chaoufi fitted those roles so we are very happy signing them.
The only thing I really regret from transfers is not getting our leaders faster, as they quickly got overpriced. We will learn from experience though.
P.S: Anyone have any questions for us? Post them here and we will answer them in a forthcoming press conference

Today we can reveal the equipment we will be riding with over the current season. They were made by fintas, who's brilliant work could overlooked when we were looking for a designer. Pinarello have supplied the frames and Specialized have provided our helmets. This gear will surely give us an edge over the season.
