Team TNT Netherlands - the best of dutch cycling
jere5000
News Release:
To our fans within the Netherlands and throughout the world:

With rumours swirling that Rabobank is pulling their sponsorship after the coming year the 'Royal Dutch Cycling' Union has took it upon themselves to create an additional dutch cycling team. This team will have hopes of taking over Team Rabobank's position in the UCI World Tour and to maintain the dutch cycling tradition and prestige in which it has earned. This team has been accepted into the Pro Continental League for the 2012 season with hopes of gaining entry as a UCI World Tour team in 2013 therefore taking over where team Rabobank will leave off. We appreciate all of your support and hope that you are as excited as us about the future!

TNT Nederlands 2012 Pro Continental League

Our mission is to create a prestigious dutch cycling team that will compete with the best while upholding the integrity of the sport. Our goal is to encourage youth riders within our nation to take part in this great sport and build a name for ourselves within the UCI Pro Tour and throughout the world.

We are excited to announce our sponsors for the 2012 season!

TNT Express Main sponsor of the TNT Netherlands team

i1337.photobucket.com/albums/o669/Jere5000/TNT.jpg

TNT Express is an international courier delivery service company with headquarters in Hoofddorp, Netherlands. They have agreed to be the main sponsor of our cycling team! The firm has fully owned operations in 65 countries and delivers to over 200 countries world wide! After starting their own stand alone company as of last year they hope this will be a great way to benefit their company as well as give back to the Netherlands in some way.

TomTom secondary sponsor

i1337.photobucket.com/albums/o669/Jere5000/800px-tomtom-logosvg.png

The leading manufacturer of navigation systems in Europe and headquartered in Amsterdam Netherlands, TomTom would now like to challenge Garmin on and off the bike!

Heineken secondary sponsor

i1337.photobucket.com/albums/o669/Jere5000/HEINEKEN_logo1.jpg

The famous Dutch brewing company will be one of our secondary sponsors keeping the moral high during the season. Even the best cyclists know there is nothing better than a cold beer after a hard days work.

Giant clothing and bike sponsor

the worlds largest bicycle manufacturer will be our clothing and bike sponsor.

Our team will consist solely of dutch riders some of which have already transferred from other teams during the off season to join us knowing that TNT Netherlands will be the dutch cycling team of the future. Much of the team will be geared towards scouting and building our youth for the future though riders such as Robert Gesink and Steven Kruijswijk will have high hopes for the Grand Tours. This year, anything is possible and the sky's the limit!

The squad will be split up into 3 groups, squad A focusing on the Tour de France (if we qualify), national championships and other WT events. Squad B focusing mainly on the first half of the season, continental events and the giro (if we qualify), and a youth U23 squad which will train and compete in continental races through out the season.

GC Contenders

Robert Gesink

i1337.photobucket.com/albums/o669/Jere5000/Gesink_Robert_California12_st7-2.jpg

Robert Gesink will be our main GC contender this year. We have high hopes for him this season and hope that with a strong team he can bounce back to his 5th place Tour de France form from 2010.

Bauke Mollema

i1337.photobucket.com/albums/o669/Jere5000/bettiniphoto_0091324_1_full_600.jpg

Bauke mollema at only 25 years of age and a top 5 finish at the 2011 Vuelta a Espana brings experience and leadership to the team. We will look to Mollema early in the season to put us in a strong position in the team standings.

Steven Kruijswijk

i1337.photobucket.com/albums/o669/Jere5000/KruijswijkStevenPIC204421S-vi.jpg

Steven Kruijswijk still has has lots of room to improve but hopefully thrown into the role of a GC contender backed with a strong team will bring some strong results for us this season and an improvement on his 8th place giro finish in 2011

KOM Contenders

Pieter Weening

i1337.photobucket.com/albums/o669/Jere5000/weening-31-239x320.jpg

An exceptional rider with the ability to break away and surprise! Pieter Weening is the last dutch rider to win a stage in the Tour de France which he did in 2005. He also wore the pink jersey for 4 days during the 2011 Giro!

Lauren Ten Dam

i1337.photobucket.com/albums/o669/Jere5000/pic305496135_600.jpg

Will be our other KOM contender. With KOM jersey's in the Tour de Romandie in 2009 and top 10 finishes in the Tour de Suisse, Tour of California, Tour Down Under in 2011 he will be the man to beat.

Sprinters

Theo Bos

i1337.photobucket.com/albums/o669/Jere5000/theo-bos.jpg

Theo bos an Olympic silver medallist and 5 time world champion on the track, Theo bos has yet to make an impact on the Road. Will this be his year?

Kenny van Hummel

i1337.photobucket.com/albums/o669/Jere5000/batavusprorace.jpg

Though the French newspaper L'equipe named Van Hummel the "worst climber ever" in the Tour de France in 2009 we will hope to find some flat races for him to unleash his fury in the sprint.

I like that TNT is the main sponsor. does that mean that TNT will change it's name to PostNL during the season?

fcancellara

Team Update - Training Camp

January 11 - 17 seventeen of our riders attended a pre - season training camp in Italy. This training camp was our first objective of the season with hopes of building team chemistry and see who maintained form through the off season. With the Tour de San Luis coming up fast, we have some important decisions to make.

In form:
Tom Slagter (Youth squad)
Wilco Kelderman (Youth squad)
Tom Dumoulin (Youth squad)
Joost Posthuma (Squad B)

Out of form:
Maarten Tjallingii (Squad B)

***For the upcoming Tour de San Luis the decision has been made to substitute Maarten Tjallingii from the roster for Tom Slagter.

This will only be until Maarten Tjallingii can show us that he is in form to race. Tom Slagter is the 2010 road race national champion for the Netherlands U23. This will give him some great motivation and experience heading into the season as he leads our youth squad.

Tour de San Luis - 2.1 - January 23-29, 2012

The UCI 2.1-rated Tour de San Luis, the most important race of the year in Argentina, offers an attractive alternative to riders looking to start their seasons with warm (if not actually sweltering) weather, solid competition and a challenging parcours in the shadow of the Andes mountains.

Team Notes

Here we are! The first race of the season is upon us and we couldn't be more excited to show our team colors. Though I believe that we have a strong team that is ready to race and surprise many with some strong results, this will only be a fine tuning for greater things to come! GL to the boys in orange in their first race of the season, the Tour de San Luis!

Looks like a nice story, I'm going to follow this one...

Oh, btw, Have you moved your photo's in photobucket to another place in photobucket or deleted them?
Because we can't see the photo's(at least I can't) and most of the time that's because you moved them to I don't know, maybe an album within photobucket...
