Australian Championships
Start List
The Team
Simon Gerrans
Stuart O'Grady
Mathew Hayman
Matthew Lloyd
Rory Sutherland
Michael Matthews
Rohan Dennis
Stage Profile
The Race
Early before the race we decided to get either our sprinter(Matthews) or Gerrans the win. SO we put everyone on the front to keep the breakaway in sight.
Gerrans tried to go from a long way out and attacked with 10km to go.
With 30km to go Gerrans was joined by Porte.
Gerrans and Porte was caught with 22km to go. Now the race is ON.
With 12km to go Goss fell which started a pile up. The riders involved were Goss, Clarke, Kemp, Pollock, Drapac, Palmer and Cooke.
The final climb started with 10km to go.
The first attack came from Porte. Gerrans followed but got boxed in before he could get away.
Evans was way ahead and there was no way Gerrans would catch up.
And Evans does it, Just. He wins ahead of Clarke, Porte and Davis.
Gerrans held on for 5th place while Wilson won the sprint in the peloton.

DS Feedback
The boys raced well today. It is the first race of the season and we can be happy with the 5th place by Gerrans. The TDU is up next which we hope to do a lot better in.

Danny Pate actually is the team, he just needs the other riders to gain a ProTour license |
