Well, I don't think a lot are enthusiastic about this race, but let's give it a chance, right?
First stage is only 119km and flat, so it's probable to end on a mass sprint. Anyone know when the first stage is raced, supposed to be today, but I guess in China that was this night, or am I mistaken?

Sad to see no German with a chance in a WT sprint, it's been pretty long ago. Kittel would have crushed the opposition if Argos decided to come here.

Seems like EBH did good lead-out for Vivani
Well at least he got some bonus seconds there for GC, and it's good he didn't win today - with just 4 along EBH - Sky would have hard time controlling the race anyway

Looks like the smog cleared out:
I'm agreed with Ian Butler, EBH should do some damage. Nice win from Viviani though. I really enjoy sprints where you have 6-8 2nd or 3rd tier sprinters. It's completely up in the air. |

Yeah there was a huge amount of wind which blew it away just before the race started. Rather lucky really.
I agree, those are often much more interesting than TdF sprints for me. Obviously not as high quality but certainly much more up in the air. I thought Kruopis had it with his leadout but he just seemed to stand still.

Maybe they should ride during the worst smog hours? I mean, the sprint would be pretty exciting with all the riders dizzy and high on fumes
