Thanks everyone for good response!
LETS GET CRACKING!
TOUR DOWN UNDER STAGE 1
1st Real Race of the New Season:
OPQS for Tour Down Under:
Andrew Fenn - Leader
Michal Kwiatkowski - Free Element
Tosh van der Sande - Free Element
Guillaume van Keirsbulck - Team-Mate
Nikolas Maes - Team-Mate
Didier Albanese - Team-Mate
Julien Vermote - Team-Mate
KM 0
Matteo Tossato LIQ & Egoi Martinez EUS - Tried to escape from the off
BUT PELOTON DIDNT LET THEM GO!
KM 30
K. Fernandez (GRS)
M. Vantomme (KAT)
J. Kuyckx (LTB)
This group made over a 1 minute advantage over peloton and looked good to go though!
HOWEVER
A. Geslin (ALM) Didnt give up and joined the escapeed on his own!
70 KM TO GO
BMC rather oddly were pursuing the break for their leader Phillippe Gilbert on what it appears to be a stage for sprinters!
Mountain Climb result!
13 TO GO
The escapees still had 40 secs lead but with Sky working for Mark Cavendish it always gonna be 1 result, they caught him with 6 km to go
THEN TOSH VAN DER SANDE TRIED ATTACK!
However Tosh got quickly caught. So it had to be a sprint finish!
BATTLE OF TRAINS:
Swift, Greipel, Cavendish (SKY) vs. Kwiatkowski, Vermote and Andrew Fenn (OPQS)
BUT OUT OF NOWHERE KENNY VAN HUMMEL (KLM - (formerly Vacansoleil)) WINS THE STAGE! AMAZING SPRINT FROM HIM!
HIGHEST OPQS RIDER:
Andrew Fenn 14th
Andrew started to early, the fitness isnt there yet. BETTER LUCK NEXT TIME!

Stage 2
Hilly fiinish!
Favourites:
Phillipe Gilbert BMC
Damiano Cunego LTB WORLD CHAMPION
Alexander Kolobnev KAT
Jelle Vanendert LTB
OPQS hoped for Tosh van der Sande who could make use of his Puncheur abilities!
The finish was also nicely shaped for polish road race and time trial champion Michal Kwiatkowski
KM 0
From the off we had a break started by
Andre Greipel SKY -
The rest who followed:
B. de Backer LTB
E. Martinez EUS - He also tried in stage 1!
J. Etxarri MOV
The Advantage of this break never was bigger than 3 minutes though, so their chances were slim if not none existent!
KLM were riding hard for their race leader
Kenny van Hummel
Respresenting OPQS at the front of the bunch was
Guillaume van Keirsbulck
With 35 km to go due to hilly nature of the stage many riders were dropped including:
Mark Cavendish SKY - RR Champion
Koldo Fernandez GRS - Sprint classification leader
After the Greipel group was caught with 30 km to go there were many counter attack attempts featuring riders such as:
- M. Tjallingi RAB
- K. Carlstroem SAU
- F. Kessiakoff AST
- T. Kangert AST
- C. Kern EUC
- S. Rosseler GRS
But nothing worked until with 6 km to go Maarten Tjallingi of Rabobank went once again and Tosh van der Sande #OPQS Followed!
When Tjallingi slowed down, Tosh went even harder dropping everyone frm his wheel and making a 30 sec advantage with over 3 km to go!
LAST KM AND TOSH IS STILL AHEAD. Peloton is chasing with Kessiakoff upfront with all the fury!
TOSH VAN DER SANDE OPQ HAS WON IT
Fantastic victory for OPQS and the young belgian!

Yeah stage win at TdU effectively means GC Lead, will be a challenge to keep it against Cunego and Gilbert with 1 more harder hilly stage. But im sure Tosh can do it. the gap he got is essential here, all he has to do is to keep up with other top dogs |

So Stage 3. Flat One. Cavendish strong favourite. Can Andy Fenn overhaul him?
Break of the day:
S.Ivanov TIN - Formerly Saxo Bank - Tinkoff
F.Felline UNI - Formerly Lampre
The Break got caught with 10 k to go. Always under control of OPQS and Sky
The OPQS Boys formed a massive train lead-out for Andy! Fantastic work from them
Van der Sande the Race Leader sat on Andys wheel so no other sprinter could benefit from this train!
But Cavendish being his usual himself launched himself in a huge way!
Mark Cavendish SKY Takes it!
Andrew Fenn came 4th after being leapfrogged by Kittel EUC and Van Hummel KLM
1 | Mark Cavendish | Sky Procycling | 3h12'17 | 2 | Kenny Van Hummel | KLM - DCM | s.t. | 3 | Marcel Kittel | Team Europcar | s.t. | 4 | Andrew Fenn | Omega Pharma - Quick·Step Cycling Team | s.t. | 5 | Davide Cimolai | TEAM UniCredit - ISD | s.t. | 6 | Matti Breschel | Garmin - Sharp | s.t. | 7 | Mark Renshaw | Rabobank Cycling Team | s.t. | 8 | Tosh Van der Sande | Omega Pharma - Quick·Step Cycling Team | s.t. | 9 | Francisco José Ventoso | Astana Pro Team | s.t. | 10 | José Joaquín Rojas | Movistar Team | s.t. | 11 | Sébastien Turgot | Tinkoff Bank - Siemens | s.t. | 12 | Tyler Farrar | Garmin - Sharp | s.t. | 13 | André Greipel | Sky Procycling | s.t. | 14 | Ben Swift | Sky Procycling | s.t. | 15 | Sébastien Hinault | Saur - Sojasun | s.t. | 16 | Pim Ligthart | KLM - DCM | s.t. | 17 | Fabio Sabatini | Liquigas - Cannondale | s.t. | 18 | Michał Kwiatkowski | Omega Pharma - Quick·Step Cycling Team | s.t. | 19 | Alexander Serebryakov | Katusha Team | s.t. | 20 | Steve Chainel | Team Europcar | s.t. |
GC Standings:
Van Hummel closed the gap a bit by getting 2nd place but Tosh still comfortably leads!
Andy Fenn will return stronger for Stage 4! |
