Our Preview.

George Bennett

i47.tinypic.com/6ed8o0.jpg

I am one of the youngest riders in the professional peloton. I am Riding with team RadioShack-Nissan-Trek which is a great team. I am best in the mountains and I hope to improve a lot there. I also want to improve my time trialing if I want to do well in star races. I am only 20 years of age so I still have a lot of riding to come.

Hayden Roulston

i47.tinypic.com/24ctslu.jpg

I am Hayden Roulston. I am a classics rider that can also sprint quite well. I am 29 years of age. I want to improve a little on my cobble riding and sprinting. I want to do well in a few races this year but I will tell you that later on. Someday I want to win Kuurne-Brussels-Kuurne and maybe even Gent Wevelgem but for now I will focus on the smaller cobble races.

We will post the goals and schedules and the full team in the next few posts.
Thanks
George and Hayden

Stage 1

i47.tinypic.com/2vcu5mq.png

The Race

The first and only thing I did all day was get on the front. Here I am only 5km from the start.

i48.tinypic.com/2nrhsie.png

Suddenly Roulston got on my wheel with 18km to go. I didn’t know what was going on until he yelled out leadout. He wanted me to lead him out.

i47.tinypic.com/x1ngjb.png

Hayden Roulston

I was under the protection of Irizar for the day.

i48.tinypic.com/28vwu9d.png

Because I was the leader for the day I called the shots. I told Popovych and Bakelants to get on the front and smash it to catch the break. So they did.

i49.tinypic.com/70gsi0.png

I decided to sprint as we had just caught the break away. I got maximum points.

i47.tinypic.com/14cd4jo.png

I didn’t sprint the 2nd time to try and conserve energy for the finish.

With 20 km to go the break was almost caught thanks largely to Popovych and Bakelants.

i49.tinypic.com/egvhhl.png

The last breakaway rider was caught with 14km to go. I had the team in position.

With only 7km to go there were a few attacks so I said for Fuglsang to get on the front.

i46.tinypic.com/351wkrl.png

With 5km to go the gap was down to nothing and it was almost time for Bennett to start.

With 2.5km to go Bennett took over. He did a great job to keep me in a good position. Then with 1.5km to go I went.

i50.tinypic.com/11rai3q.png

Unfortunately I couldn’t do as well as I had hoped and Blythe took the win ahead of Mandri and Eackhout. I had to settle for 6th place.
