I've just started a career with a custom team (with a small budget). But in the schedule planner there is no World Tour events (Tour de France etc)?
Any reason?? |

I am guessing that you are a Conti-team which means you can't race in WT-races.

ProTour teams have to compete in World Tour events,
ProConti teams can request a wildcard so have the possibility to ride World Tour events
Conti teams cannot even request to ride World Tour events. However, if you ride well this season, you might promote to ProConti and then you can request wildcards. |

Yeah, indeed... Just do good in the 2.2, 2.1 and 2HC races and you will promote to the pro continental tour.
If you're in the Pro Continental tour, you're able to participate in World Tour events (with a wildcard) |

Could i just clarify that a 1.1 race is of a lower standard than the 2.1, 2.2 etc?

No, it is the other way around. These are the official classification, so you can read up on them, for example here: https://autobus.cy.../uci_codes

1.2 is of a lower standard than 1.1
The first number clarifies what kind of race it is: 1=single day, 2=stage race (multiple races), while the second number gives you the importance. HC=very important (hors category), .1=reasonably important, .2 is not very important. ProTour teams cannot even race .2 races, so for a continentel team it's interesting to race these races.
You can find all this in the "rules" department in the game. |

Thanks for the information, i've now got my schedule sorted for the first 3/4 of the year.
One further question, Is it better for the "team" as a whole to do better than an individual finishing in the top 10?
In terms of getting promotion? because i seem to get my leader into winning positions in most stages but some of my other guys just fall away and finish a long long way back. which must affect my overall team ranking? |

Promotion is based on the points a team wins but you only get points for individual results. |

The promotion/relegation is (at least I think so) determined by the CQ Ranking (if you don't have a database installed, I think it's named superprestige or something like that). For this CQ Ranking, only higher placements on stages and classifications count. That means that it is for instance better to have one rider in the Top 5 and all of the other worse than place 150 than to have all of your riders between the places 15-25.
Long story short: Concentrate on your leaders.

Do they get better the more rides they have, or will the naturally progress into better riders?

Their progress doesn't have anything to do with their racing days, only with their trainers  |

The trainer and the setting at the start of the career define how fast a rider will develop. The training type and the stars define how he will develop.
Furthermore every rider has a "development style", some riders will develop constantly, others might explode at young age or at a certain age. Also progressive and digressive development is possible. |

Ok, so i'm using this thread to sort out all my questions/queries.
Sponsors now!
As above i'm not able to enter the world tour events, but all my sponsors goals are relating to World Tour races? So don't think i'm gonna be pleasing them as can't enter the races they want me to!

True, a fault of the game. Just use Fast Editor or any other editor to adjust the goals and set them to races you'll participate in. |

I'm not a big fan of editors to be honest.
If i perform well in actual races i can enter will the sponsors still be satisfied?

Yes, your sponsor will be happy with all results, they are just a "little more" happy when you can reach the sponsor goals.
But I thought the latest patch should have somehow reduced the sponsor goal problem.
BTW: What is wrong with editors? You can make the game more real and/or enjoyable. All the databases and packs which can be downloaded here are an edited version of the original database.

Me and Editors, well i downloaded the PCM Database but some of the Nations flag weren't visuable (this sort of thing annoys me).
Plus i'm pretty new to Cycling in general so the realnames aren't an issue with me.
So i'm just playing with the original database. I started a career with a very small budget (custom team). |

Why can't i always choose to follow a team mate? With 25km to go why can't i put someone on Dot 99 and then make someone else follow this?
Seem only to be available after 15km to go on a flat stage?
Or have i missed something? |

Yes... On a flat stage you can do that after 18km... In stages with a late mountain (even a Cat.4 mountain) its even worse, because you can follow after the last mountain, and not earlier... |
