Welcome everyone to the 2010 Cycling Award Show. It has been a very eventfully year, so lets get started right away. The first award of the night goes to the man who won the most stages throughout the year.
Most Wins - Individual
And no surprise here, its the Manx Missile - Mark Cavendish.
Who finished the year with 20 stage wins.

Team HTC-Columbia tallies 43 wins this season,
they beat out Saxo Bank and EA-Sony Ericsson who finished with 31.

CT Rankings - Individual
EA-Sony Ericsson climber, Thomas Lovkvist takes this award beating
Kenny Van Hummel from Skil-Shimano by 6 points.

This man was on a different level all year and his results can't be beat by any other cyclist this year. And with a high price tag, Contador will be taking his talents to Saxo Bank next season as they reload after the Schleck brothers formed their new team Leopard-Trek.

After a hard fought season the only thing we have left to do is present
and reward the outstanding achievements that were accomplished
over the last ten months. We will start at the top,
as I would like to give you your 2011 Pro Tour Champions ...
Leopard-Trek is the best team in the peloton for the second straight year
if you count Saxo Bank winning the title the last year.
Lead by the Schleck brothers, who collected 46% of their 1406 points,
Leopard can leave the cycling on the highest terms.
With the team dissolving and combinating with RadioShack for next season,
the will be one last celebration of the team.

From the PT to the CT, the battle to be the best in the lower division really wasn't a contest at all. EA-Sony Ericsson rode away right from the start of the season and never looked back. Lead by the Swedish duo of Larsson and Lofkvist, they beat 2nd place Landbouwkrediet by over a 1,000 points.

with 3 riders will share this award with 12 wins each to their names - Alessandro Petacchi, Fabian Cancellara, Alberto Contador
Team wins was just as close with Garmin-Cervelo beating out
Lampre-ISD by just a single a victory. Their new manager
will hopefully continue their winning ways into the 2012 season.

Award to the best cyclist of the year, it's every riders dream to win this award.
This year, for the first time in a few years, their was no clear favourite. There really wasn't a dominating rider that won several big races.

Gustav Erik Larsson, 31 years old, from Sweden. Larsson gained a lot of fans after his two seasons in the EA-Sony Ericsson colours. His biggest wins coming against the clock, including the World ITT Championship two years in a row now and will be looking for the magical third to put his name in the record books. He truly has been a special rider over the past two seasons, and hopefully he keeps it going for 2012.

Tejay Van Garderen, 23 years old, from the United States of America. Van Garderen is one of the brightest up and coming stars in cycling. And his growth over the offseason makes him a leader of the squad over Irishman Daniel Martin. Tejay will probably lead the team in at least one GT perhaps two if the first one goes well. But if he slips up Martin is waiting in the wings to take over.

George Hincapie, 38 years old, from the United States of America. Hincapie's best days may be over but he still has the heart of a lion. George will be in charge of keeping all the young riders in line throughout the season. But don't be fooled he could easily find a way to get a few wins this season as well.

The team actually signed Froome before they knew he was a superstar climber,
(very lucky on their part) so he really wasn't a leader when they were training in the off season. But it was some really nice scouting on Sony Ericsson's part.
After opening the WT season with a podium yesterday, stage 2 seemed like a let down. After the breakaway was pulled back that included Swedish rider Jonas Ljungblad, the team put their faith into the hands of oldtimer George Hincapie. And he put forth his best effort against the puncheurs but could only manage 11th. Not terrible but when Garmin finished 3rd and XBox puts 3 riders in the top 10... You can say the "rivals" won today's stage.
