Tour de France, Stage 20 - Sunday, Rambouillet - Paris Champs-Élysées

Mark Cavendish already holds the record for stage wins on the Champs-Élysées, having chalked up his third consecutive victory on this grandest of avenues last year. He says that he has not got the green jersey in his sights but if he goes all the way to Paris there is simply no way he will back off today, even if the Olympic road race is just a matter of days away. In fact, victory here would give any rider a huge boost before moving on to London. The format is the traditional one: an easy start, a very fast entry onto the finishing circuit and eight very high-speed laps, followed by the most watched sprint of the year.

Hoping for a big Cav-Greipel finale.

Cav convinced me two days ago. Going for him and expecting Boeckmans to surprise.

Wiggins to lead out Cav? I could honestly see it happening.

I hope for Veelers though (I think he's still in, but these are the things I'm not sure of, as I basically skimmed thru coverage the last week)

Veelers has abandoned 8 stages ago. Pfft

Anyway, 4th win for Cav in the Champs-Elysees.

Darn, but thanks. I kinda hope Farrar then. Would deff save Garmin's Tour.

Or a French win.

Johnny Hoogerland said in an interview, very optimistically:

"The stages to the Champs-Elysees haven't even always been a maas sprint!"

GO JOHNNY GO! Grin

I hope Sagan wins, but that's pretty unrealistic.

My prediction: Johny Testosterone attacks, wins, then tests positive again.

Just to cap off a horrible tour in the worst possible way Pfft

I hope cav wins by a mile to convince everyone that they have to attack the Olympic road race.

Crazy prediction right?

I predict that Froome is going to be the winner of the Tour after todays stage.

Wiggins won't be allowed to enter Paris, fashion capital of the world, with those sideburns.

I wanna see Sagan win, and another celebration!

I've bet on Greipel. I'm expecting his train to put him in the best position. Cavendish will be a place or two back. If this gap is too big, Cav won't be able to make up for it.

I still think Sagan's Forrest Gump was the best so far...

It would definitely look great - the yellow jersey leading out a sprinter on the Champs, but I dont see it happening. The yellow jersey normally likes to celebrate before the finishSmile
But I think Cav will win anyways to finish off the perfect british Tour de France, Greipel only secondSad I just hope for a great sprint battleWink

I can see a yellow-norway-rainbow leadout happening.

The question is will Sky add the "most colourful leadout train" award to their successes this year?

It's ironic with a kit like theirs Pfft

ps hurry up and win already Bradley so I can remove my cringey avatar!

This is the biggest day in British cycling's history. The media coverage this is getting, well. It's huge for the sport.

As a cycling fan in a non-traditional cycling country, it's something we've dreamed of.
