Facts:
DB: dBa by Altehacke 2012 (with a big stat update, as I didn't like the original ones)
Evolution: 0,3
Race difficulty: Hard
Potential: Random

Base of the team: Colombia and Italy

Team philosophy: This team is for young italian or South American guys, who want to develop with riders in the same age. The teams focus is mainly young rider developing, and collect the rising stars of cycling. We are not looking for Cancellara or Covendish nor Contador, we want to get the guys that has the potential to become the next dominant riders in cycling.

The main sponsor, Fiat, comes from Italy, and it's one of the biggest italian car- manufacturers. It's also interested in opening new sights, mainly North America, but also Asia.

The secondary sponsor of the team is Diadora, an italian clothing company, which makes also shirts for several italian Serie A teams. They usually make good looking, elegant jerseys, and we hope, that they will provide us some nice jerseys.

Team Presentation

Climbers

Sergio Henao
img403.imageshack.us/img403/7500/henaostats.jpg

The best climber of the team, one of the biggest cycling talents. He is our undisputed leader, and he can compete against everybody when the road rises. However, he is not a big TT talent, but he compensates this with his ability to climb.
Main aim: Giro Top 10 (if we get a Wildcard), Vuelta a Asturias,

Fabio Duarte
i1249.photobucket.com/albums/hh505/matinho97/duartestat2.jpg

Duarte is a very promising young climber, who rode in 2011 for the folded Geox- TMC team, and we could lure him away. He looks forward to the new season, in his new team.
Main aim: Giro Stage- Hunting, Vuelta a Burgos

Stefano Pirazzi
img9.imageshack.us/img9/3369/pirazzistat.jpg

Stefano is an interesting italian climbing talent, former Colnago- CSF rider, and a nice fighter, who can develop to be a nice stage hunter.
Main aim: Giro del Trentino Top 5, Giro KOM

Peter Stetina
img13.imageshack.us/img13/1429/stetinastat.jpg

A very hot prospect from the US, who can bring us some nice U25 jerseys. He will mostly be a domestique, but he will get a leading role in some stages.
Main aim: Giro D'Sardegna, Giro (helper for Henao)

Sprinters

Giacomo Nizzolo
i1249.photobucket.com/albums/hh505/matinho97/Nizzolostat-1.jpg

The main sprinter of the team, a young italian sprinter, who has a nice burst, and can finish mass sprints for the team.
Main aim: A stage win in the Giro D'Italia, some nice italian one-day races.

Francesco Ginanni
img137.imageshack.us/img137/8012/ginannistat.jpg

Ginanni is a very good punchy sprinter, who can get through the hills quite well, so he can finish sprints from little groups to get some needed stage wins.
Main aim: Stagehunting in the Giro D'Italia, Hilly races

Luxury domestiques

Marco Marcato
img13.imageshack.us/img13/3644/marcatostat.jpg
Marco joins us from Vacansoleil, and he will mostly serve as a leadout for our sprinters. Sometimes he will join breaks to get some stagewins.
Main aim: Giro (as a leadout), smaller hilly classics

Giuseppe De Maria
img29.imageshack.us/img29/9650/demariastat.jpg

Another sprint train element, who will be the same as Marcato for the team.
Main aim: Giro (as a leadout), smaller hilly classics

Nairo Quintana
img72.imageshack.us/img72/425/nairostat.jpg

One of the most promising climbers in Colombia, and he is a nice domestique for us, but he will also get his own chances.
Main aim: Giro (helping, some own chances), smaller stage- races

Joker

Miguel Angel Rubiano
img266.imageshack.us/img266/3980/rubiano.jpg

Rubiano is a rider, who can make some memorable moments for the team. He is the most experienced rider in the team, and he is looking forward to the season.
Main aim: Giro (does whatever he wants, attacking, KOM...), smaller stage- races

fernando97
Thank you, I hope this will last longer, as I really like this team. Now I'm planning the season, but we won't ride too many races, so it won't be too hard. Wink I'll probably play San Luis 1st stage today, and possibly tomorrow I can make a report. (Or even today is possible who knows...)

Tour de San Luis Preview

Tour de San Luis is one of the few stage-races that we actually ride. It consist of 3 flat and 3 hilly stages along with an ITT. As the race is very early in the calendar, the early season form is very important.

Our team:

41. S.Henao
42. D.Atapuma
43. F.Duarte
44. E.Passarelli
45. N.Quintana
46. M.Rubiano
47. C.J.Sarmiento
48. P.Stetina

Objective

Fabio Duarte got some nice early form, and he can grab a stage win and a good GC position, I think. Henao looks also eager for a good show, and Rubiano is openly hunting the win. Our sprinters are lacking form at the moment, so we concentrated more on the climbers.

Tour de San Luís Stage 1

i1249.photobucket.com/albums/hh505/matinho97/SanLusstage1.jpg

Todays stage is very flat, it's 166 km long and has a nice opportunity for the sprinters, to take the victory, but their teams have to work hard to bring back the break.

Favourites:
Förster (UHC)
Guardini (FAR)
Roulston (RNT)

The stage

The break got formed early, and got quite a big lead.

i1249.photobucket.com/albums/hh505/matinho97/SanLusstage1BotD.jpg

Long way down the road...

The break consisted 12 riders, but noone was a threat for the overall.
With 60kms to go, AnPost- Sean Kelly riders started to work hard for their leader Nico Eckheut, and the gap started to get smaller.

i1249.photobucket.com/albums/hh505/matinho97/Anpoststage1.jpg

AnPost working

At 20km the BotD was caught, and the peleton started to prepare for the sprint. Oh but whats happening a Fiat rider is on the ground! Who is he?

i1249.photobucket.com/albums/hh505/matinho97/Henaofallstage1.jpg

Segio Henao is on the ground!

While Henao tried to catch up, Andrea Guardini was quite alone in the sprint preparations, and he decided to launch his final burst very early, and pulled Förster into a perfect position. The AnPost train failed as Eckheut lost the wheel of Bellis!

i1249.photobucket.com/albums/hh505/matinho97/2kmstage1.jpg

Guardini launching with Förster on his wheel

With 500Ms to go it looks like that Förster is in the lead, but he starts to fade a little bit. Tosatto also gives it all next to Förster.

i1249.photobucket.com/albums/hh505/matinho97/sprintstage1.jpg

Förster leads and youngster Jay McCarthy comes strong!

And Förster wins the first stage of the Tour de San Luís! In the final meters he almost got passed by Matteo Tosatto, but he kept his lead!

i1249.photobucket.com/albums/hh505/matinho97/Frsterstage1win.jpg

Close win for Förster ahead of Tosatto!

Here comes the disappointed Henao with a more than a 2 minutes gap...

Henao pulled by 2 teammates

Tour de San Luís Stage 2

i1249.photobucket.com/albums/hh505/matinho97/Profile.jpg

The first half of the race is a circuit which contains a short but steep climb, but this climb shouldn't cause too many problems. At the end of the stage, in Punta al Tapíche comes a 4,7km long and very steep hill, which can shake up the GC.

Favourites:
Monfort (RNT)
Dekker (GRM)
Duarte (FID)

The stage

There were no actions in the first two hills, as Fiat-Diadora controlled the bunch, and rode a fairly high pace. After ca. 20kms M.A. Rubiano attacked and created a great gap, with some others.

i1249.photobucket.com/albums/hh505/matinho97/BotD.jpg

Rubaino managed to win both the Mountain and the Points sprints

Team Garmin dictated a high pace in the peleton, and it looked like that Dekker is really in form.

i1249.photobucket.com/albums/hh505/matinho97/Garminpace.jpg

Garmin caught the break

At 4,7kms, as we start the hill, Garmin makes an incredible pace, and on the left side you can see the Fiat-boys coming to the front.

i1249.photobucket.com/albums/hh505/matinho97/HillstartGArmin.jpg

Garmin pushes hard

At around the middle of the climb Duarte an also Stetina(!) got a pretty nice gap, mainly because Garmin riders were confused, as Millar looked stronger than Dekker.

i1249.photobucket.com/albums/hh505/matinho97/DuarteStetinagap.jpg

Duarte goes strong

At the and Duarte got a very nice gap, but Stetina got caught by Zaugg, and came 3rd. The team looked very strong and all of our riders finished within the top 20.

DS: That was a very good performance from Duarte! We're very happy generally with the team, and we're proud of the riders. We have 3 out of the 4 leader jerseys, as Stetina is in the lead in the U25 rankings.

Tour de San Luís Stage 3

i1249.photobucket.com/albums/hh505/matinho97/Profile-1.jpg

This stage is very flat, and its a perfect oppurtunity for the sprinters to grab a stage win. It's up to them and their teams! We have no high expectations beacause of our lack of sprinters.

Favourites:
Förster (UHC)
Guardini (FAR)
Tosatto (SAX) (I updated their jersey with the new one with Tinkoff Bank (thanks Maximka))

The stage

It was a very long time before the BotD has been created, and it consisted just 2 riders!

i1249.photobucket.com/albums/hh505/matinho97/BotD-1.jpg

2 riders in the saddle

They got caught very fast and the sprint preps has been started. Rubiano fell back, and couldn't follow the pace after a nasty crash. The winner of the 1st stage, Robert Förster, was very well positioned on the wheel of Eeckheut, who was leaded out by youngster Jonathan Bellis.

i1249.photobucket.com/albums/hh505/matinho97/Schulze.jpg

Schulze launches early, and leads...

With 1km to go Guardini takes over but Förster is coming fast!

i1249.photobucket.com/albums/hh505/matinho97/guardini1km.jpg

Can he hold the lead?

And Guardini wins the 3rd stage in Argentina! He beats Förster on the line!

i1249.photobucket.com/albums/hh505/matinho97/guardiniwin.jpg

Guardini's 1st win this year

Rubiano loses ca. 8 minutes, and he will just hunt the KOM jersey form now on...

Thank you it's always nice to see that there are some people who read the reports, and yeah Duarte has a really good form at the moment, as he made it cleat that Giro di Sardegna is one of his favourite races, and he wants to win it. Stay tuned for Stage 4!

Tour de San Luís Stage 4

i1249.photobucket.com/albums/hh505/matinho97/profile-2.jpg

Todays stage is a 18km long ITT, which is a nice oppurtunity for the better TTers, to get back some time on the pure GC contenders. For us, TT-ing is the worst element of racing, so we will just try to minimalize our losses.

Favourites:
Monfort (RNT)
Millar (GRM)
Posthuma(RNT)

The stage

Joost Posthuma set an early best time, and he looked unbeatable, but than the Armada of Garmin- Barracuda passed him along with Maxime Monfort from Radioshack. At the end David Millar added a stage win to his growing palmarés. Fiat riders couldn't match the pace of the TT powerhouses, but Fabio Duarte was surprisingly strong. The question is that, could he keep his orange jersey?

No he can't. Millar takes the jersey and has a very good support, so he can hold it 'till the end of the race, but Duarte will try to get it back.

No changes.

DS: Fabio has bad some luck with this ITT, but his performance was quite strong considering his ITT ability, and he wants to get his jersey back! We also have riders to hunt for a stagewin as Henao and Rubiano are too far back in the GC.
