Once the Tour de France ends, all eyes turn to London!

Road Race
Reporter: mb2612
www.pcmdaily.com/images/2012olympicrr.png

The road race is up first, finishing on The Mall - but not before 9 laps of the Box Hill circuit. Who will have the strength left after this to contest the finish?

pcmdaily.com/images/flags/BE.png Tom Boonen leads a strong Belgian squad, but also strong are the Italians, with pcmdaily.com/images/flags/IT.png Danniele Bennati.

pcmdaily.com/images/flags/GB.png Ben Swift will lead the home challenge, while Spain are counting on pcmdaily.com/images/flags/ES.png Francisco Ventoso in their bid to keep Olympic Gold in their country.

Time Trial
Reporter: CountArach

i806.photobucket.com/albums/yy344/DailyManGame2011/2012%20Routes/2012olympictt.png

It's a flat route for the time trial, looping around South of London before the start and finish at Hampton Court Palace.

Arriving from the Tour de France, World Champion pcmdaily.com/images/flags/US.png Taylor Phinney will be favourite. But can the likes of pcmdaily.com/images/flags/FR.png Jerome Coppel and pcmdaily.com/images/flags/AU.png Michael Rogers, amongst others, challenge him without having the tiredness from completing the 3 week race?

I still feel the RR will be won by a puncheur, in fact I hope so. Will be more fun Grin

US, Spain, Holland and possibly Ireland look a little dangerous - but hard to see the Italians, Belgians and Brits not pulling this back for a sprint.

Bennati for Olympic Gold I think and Zabriskie for the TT.

I'm hoping Cunego rides like he does in real life.

That is - forget he's there as part of a team and goes off and does his own thing. Maybe ride off by himself first time we hit Box Hill. Pfft

Incidentally - is the start order for the TT going to be as it is listed?

Would be interesting to see if a decent puncheur gets into a break and manages to stay away. It's not likely a break will win, but we can never be sure with PCM11 logic, and the slightly smaller team sizes.

Would be cool for Swifty to win at home, though Smile

I'm hoping for Ulissi to be starting the late breaks for Italy and win the race MSR style Smile

Strgar Grin Already a victory for me to have one guy starting the race. It'll be interesting to see if the puncheurs can beat the sprinters in this route, should be an interesting race.

Phinney to win both. Pfft

A puncheur that doesn't have a great sprinter in his team to win - Robert Gesink Wink

Jerome Coppel for the gold medal and a special jersey! Well, at least it would be really nice if winners could wear a jersey with Olympic rings till next OG, even it's really unrealistic.. Pfft

I'm cheering on the Brits seeing as the Italian selection committee doesn't like Ponzi.

@rjc43

I did Wink

I'm incredibly excited for the RR, because this is the big chance to write history as a new team.
I do fear a strong puncheur group making it to the end, especially when some big nations are present. At least positioning shouldn't be a problem as such a favourite.

The race has been raced, 'twas pretty good, will be posted in three parts a day after the tour is finished.

If it is, I think Rogers is in with a decent chance. He'll be the first of the big favourites to go in the second round of riders and then all the others will come right after him - could work out quite well.

Quite interesting the love being expressed by some for the Olympics....I'd but it below the monuments and Amstel/Fleche in my list of one days I'd want to win.

Go Portugal. I have no chances of conquering an olympic medal, but I'd love to see a portuguese rider reaching an honourable spot.

I hope so too, and hopefully Costa doesn't get to comfortable with your riders because I'm going to need him back for next season Pfft Or less we are going to have those transfer battles all over again Wink

Eheh you can count on it. Meanwhile see if you can make him an olympic medalist. That would ignite my interest in him for next year Pfft
