Evaluation of Atrributes: 1.0 | Financial Difficulty: Easy | Race Dificulty: Hard |
Hi there,
As you should all know my name is Bradley Wiggins.
I was born on the 28th April 1980 in a in the small town of Ghent, Belgium. I have been riding since I was 12 years old and represented Camden at the Youth Olympic Games. in 2010 I was inducted into the London Youth Games Hall of Fame. I lives in Eccleston, Lancashire. I married my wife Catherine in Manchester in November 2004 and has two children, Ben and Isabella.
Career
At 20, I won a bronze medal for Britain in the team pursuit at the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney.
2008
In 2008 I signed with Team High Road, a team later known as HTC-Highroad. At the 2008 UCI Track Cycling World Championships in Manchester, I won three gold medals: pursuit, team pursuit and madison.
2009
After finishing the 2009 Giro d'Italia 71st, which included second place in the final stage, I arrived at the 2009 Tour de France having lost six kilos. I came third in the opening time-trial in Monaco and helped Garmin to second place in the team time-trial despite losing four riders. In the first mountain finish, I finished 12th, and at 5th place overall entering the second week, had the highest second-week place by a British rider since Robert Millar. On the second mountain finish, in Verbier, I finished fifth to climb to third overall. I was attacked by the Schleck brothers on stage 17 and dropped to sixth, but moved to fourth in the stage 18 time-trial. On stage 20 to Mont Ventoux, I finished tenth and held fourth by three seconds ahead of Frank Schleck. I held that position in the final stage, equalling Robert Millar's highest ever finish by a British rider in the Tour.
2010
I began 2010 as a team leader for the first time. I was part of the team who won the team time trial on stage one of the 2010 Tour of Qatar. On May 10, I took my first major win of the year, in the opening time trial of the Giro d'Italia and took the maglia rosa leader's jersey. It was my first win at a Grand Tour. I lost the jersey on stage 2 to Cadel Evans following a crash-marred stage. I lost further time early on in the Giro, but recovered much of it on stage 11, in which I finished fourth. I faded quickly towards the end of the race, however, losing a lot of time over the final stages to finish 40th.
2011
This season I am still the leader of team sky and I am really looking forward to racing again this season. As you all know my main goal is to win the Tour but this season I am going to the Giro-Vuelta double. This will give me a better insite at the competition I will be up against at the Tour and whether I need to improve or not. I hope to win one of the Grand Tours I enter in or at least get a top 5. I am hoping that I will win the GB National road championships as that is very important to me. I haven't worn the RR champions jersey so I hope i can win it. This season is an important season for me so I hope I can do well in the races I compete in.
The squad is fantastic support for the sprinters and myself in the mountains.
These are the sponser objectives for the team this season.
The first race for the season I can't go to but I will be starting my season at the GP Mediteraneen.

The team has just offered me a contract renewal and of course I was going to say yes. Now I know I have a new contract I don't have to worry about getting dropped anytime soon.

I heard from Simon Gerrans that the Aus Champs was the most hectic race that he has been in. Sky had a good race comming in 1st (Gerrans), 2nd (Sutton) and 5th (Rogers).

Today the Cancer Council Classic was on and the team went to work for Chris Sutton. The team controlled the peloton for most of the race and then started the leadout. Here are a few pics of today's race.
Team sky leadout
Only about 3km to go now and sky still in charge
The finish
Team Sky's work paid of with a 1,2 victory.
The Tour of Australia is tommorow but i don't start racing for another few weeks.

Stage 1
The peloton kept dropping riders thanks to the fast pace of Knees and Thomas.
I was sitting comfortably in the protection of Lofkvist and with my main competitor Voeckler in front of me.
With 40km to go I attacked out of the peloton.
Thomas attacked about 1km after I did because I told him to come and help me.
Now there is a 2 man leading group 1.24 ahead of the peloton.
With 20km to go the leading group had 1.24 on the peloton.
The peloton turned into 21 riders after 15km to go.
The leading group looked like it would be caught so I am now going to sit in the peloton for the rest of the race.
The sprint started and surprisingly Lofkvist hit the front early but unfortunately Voeckler had a bit more energy and came back past Lofkvist and took the win.
I didn't lose anytime on the favorites and tommorow is a sprint stage so I will try and get the jersey on the next hill stage.

Stage 2
Today is a flat stage so we will be looking for a victory on today's stage.
The worst news for Europcar came over the radio. Voeckler had fallen and hit hard. he got up very quickly though and didn't lose touch of the problem.
With 24km to go Thomas attacked for really no reason. He quickly caught up to the 2 man leading group.
With 15km to go there was a lead out done for Sutton.
The leadout started for Sutton with 3km to go.
The leadout was horrible and Sutton got passed with 300m to go.
Caethoven won. Sky's best result was 8th with Sutton.
