Okay, so I'm having some fun now, and I really like the pace my Kyle Lewis story is going. So I'm going to start a new, much, much, bigger project, that requires many people.
So I guess to put it in short, I plan to start a new Man-Game, without the 3d race portion, and different rules and such, but in large part this will be a very fast paced. I will shoot to finish a full season in a month. Start-up will take some time, but will also be kept at a fast pace.
Like the Man-Game I will not be allowed to play, and just report. How you all wish to set-up and report on your teams is entirely up to you. So without further ado here will be the rules:
Joining:
The first 18 people that message wanting in will get a UCI team. All I need is a post with your team name/sponsers, and nationality. After that anyone else will get a Continental team, same thing, need name/sponsers and nationality.
Draft:
There will be a rider draft starting once 18 people are in, or if we don't get that many, I will control the other teams for their draft. The draft will be in a serpentine (1,2,3...16,17,18,18,17,16...3,2,1) The UCI teams will get 3 rounds before the Continental teams (so 36 total riders) The continental teams will then get to pick one rider each (19,20,21...). After they each pick we start from #1 again and serpentine the rest of the draft.
There will be an excel spreadsheet available for everyone to download and set up a draft board.
I expect this will take some time, but as long as everyone is active, it should progress well every day. To keep things moving fast I will need a list of riders you want for that round. (Example of everything will be in the next post).
Each UCI team will end up with 26 riders, Continental teams will have 24 (so yes this will mean you need to select even your lower riders, I will update the spreadsheet daily and remove the riders selected to make things easier)
Season:
For the season obviously the WT teams will have all the UCI races. I will also leave in any races the computer schedules for you.
1: Each WT team should send in 5 races they are not already registered for and I will try and schedule those in. For the continental teams list 8 races, including WT races you want a wild card for. (I will declare which teams will be accepted as wildcards before the season starts for all events)
2: Fitness schedules for each rider need to be sent to me. Each team may submit 1 custom fitness schedule (this could change later on) but may use that schedule for as many riders as wanted.
3: Each team will be provided 5 trainers balanced to be skill 7 in every category (basically don't worry about trainers). I do need to know which discipline each rider will train in for the year (year long training, no mid-season changes). Rider evolution will be set to .2
4: Start-lists must be sent in the month prior to the race, or the computer will determine your teams start list.
Offseason:
Relegation: (Will not happen after season 1) Starting at the end of season 2 if a continental team is performing better than a WT team there is a chance of relegation and promotion. At most 2 teams can change divisions. (I'll come up with a mathematical way to do this and post it before season 2 starts).
Free Riders: Each team will have a salary cap, all WT teams will have the same number. All Continental teams will have a same amount. (After the draft these numbers will be posted, you won't exceed them during the draft, more detailed post on this in future.) The free agent period will last 1 week, highest bidder gets the rider. Nationalism will take effect also (will be detailed more in the salary cap post).
That's about it:
After off-season we start back up with the regular season all over again. Really hoping to get a good number of people in on this, it will be best with more. So without further ado I will post some examples to try and help out.
Edited by Kentaurus on 02-07-2012 16:44
Example 1: Hey I would like to join! My team will be Texas Instruments - Google (TiG) and based in the USA!
Example 2: Baccarat - LOOK / France
Example Draft
The DB is the nice 2012 DB, I will remove any injury/suspension to start the year so every rider is good to go from the start.
Notes: Okay to detail this a bit better. After 18 signups I will randomize he draft order. Each team should then submit a list of riders ranked they would like for round 1. (I will then process the round), then submit a new set of riders for round 2. The list should be ranked so in case a team picking before you chooses your top rider, you have a backup...early on the lists need to be at least 18 riders. If I don't have a list, or all the riders on your list are taken I will select a rider for you (from my big list), that rider may or may not fit how you wanted the team to be.
(Earlier rounds I should be able to figure out who based on just last name if you are lazy. Though for notable riders with the same last name that might be brothers from Luxembourg, please specify which)
Note for Contract Length
The riders will sign contracts based on where they are picked.
Riders picked in rounds 1,4,7,10,13,16,19,22,25 will sign for 3 seasons.
Riders from rounds 2,5,8,11,14,17,20,23,26 will sign for 2 seasons.
Lastly riders from 3,6,9,12,15,18,21,24 will only sign for 1 season.
For Continental teams even though your picks start in round three, you are on a separate table and riders will adjust accordingly so your first pick will sign for 3 seasons, the 2nd for 2, and 3rd pick for just 1 and so on like the WT teams.

Example:
I would like to join Omloop Het Nieuwsblad, Criterium International, E3 Harelbeke, Tour de Wallonie, and Volta a Portugal.
(You may also remove up to 4 races not required if they do not fit your plan, for each 2 removed you may add 1 to your requests)
Example:
Please remove my team from Circuit de Lorraine and GP du canton d'Argovie. Add Skoda - Tour de Luxembourg in their place please.
(I will be as accommodating as possible, if too many teams register, I will have to chose who misses out and will work with them .. continental teams will always lose out first to WT teams)
March Start Lists:
3rd - Giro del Friuli: Basso, P. Sagen, Capecchi, Salerno, Marangoni, Nerz, Duggan, King
5th - Strade Bianche: Nibali, Sabatini, Ponzi, Oss, Caruso, J. Sagan, Wurf
6-13th - Paris - Nice: Basso, Szmyd, P. Sagen, Finetto, Ponzi, Koren, Paterski, Salerno.
9-15th - Tirreno - Adriatico: Nibali, Capecchi, Sabatini, Oss, Guarnieri, Bellotti, Agnoli, Caruso.
19th - Milano - San Remo: P. Sagan, Sabatini, Guarnieri, Oss, Finetto, J. Sagan, Bodnar, Longo Borghini.
21-27th - Volta Ciclista a Catalunya: Szmyd, Koren, Agnoli, Salerno, Vanotti, Caruso, Duggan
22-27th - Settimana Coppi e Bartali: Nibali, Capecchi, Bellotti, Cimolai, Finetto, Da Dalto, Viviani

27th - Gent - Wevelgem: Oss, P. Sagan, Longo Borghini, Marangoni, Bodnar, J. Sagan, King, Nerz
(Okay for those that can count, I ended up with 4 races on the 27th...don't do that, this is just an example so I was using what it gave me + the one I added earlier, luckily Liquigas is huge so its not an issue...)

1900 Point Cap for WT Teams.
Each team must maintain 26 or 24 man rosters based on division.
During the off-season at the free rider bidding stage, each team will be able to bid from their remaining points for a rider. Simple rules, highest bid wins. There will be a minimum bid of 62 or 60 based on division. Maximum of 3 year contract.
Nationalism! Riders have varying degrees of Nationalism (in the DB editor it is rated 1-3) If you are bidding on a rider from your nation, add that riders nationalism to your bid (meaning the rider will sign for less)
Age and Contract Length!
Riders that are young (under 28) don't like long contracts as they expect to improve and become better (and worth more) so subtract the length of the offer from your total.
Riders that are older (over 32) like long contracts that will provide for them even as they might decline in skill, so add the length to the total offer.
Example Bidding (again using Liquigas):
I. Basso - 85 (80+2+3), 3 years
D. Cunego - 76 (74+2+0), 2 years
A. Davis - 72 (72+0+0), 3 years
T. Phinney - 64, (66+0-2), 2 years
R. Navadauskus - 70 (71+0-1), 1 year
A. Malori - 67 (67+3-3), 3 years
O. Friere - 79 (76+0+3), 3 years
So the format is: Name - Total Bid (your offer + nationalism +/- contract length).
Only the amount of "your offer" goes against the salary cap.

Wow, got 11 teams already signed up, another 7 and we can start the beginning of the draft. Updated the spreadsheet of riders to include nationalism. (Changed nationalism default so there was more variety, now 1/4 of the riders are a 1, 1/2 are a 2, and 1/4 are a 3.)
Okay so I plan to get this draft started in the next day or two, we had 13 signups in the first full day, should get the other needed 5 tomorrow. So what I do need is a list from everyone for which rider they want in round 1.
This list needs to be 18 riders long ranked from rider you most want to least want. I will determine the draft order (will be randomized) tomorrow and if people have submitted their order will start the draft.
