We enter Denmark for a 6-day race. 5 of these are pretty flat and might end in a sprint finish, which explains the high amount of top sprinters here. But the decision might either fall in the individual time trial, where a lot of high quality chrono men have thrown an eye on. Also the small hills on some of the short circuits could become very dangerous and could favor the breakaways.

In general a race, hard to predict although the chrono men of course must be named as main favourites. Most interesting that Tinkoff`s Ignatiev is not participating here. So some of the other top time trialists in the CT Division might be able to grab this overall win here.

The cobbled section on the 3rd doesn`t look like a race deciding section although the officials obviously mixed the startlist a bit due to this short pavement.

Starting with i1215.photobucket.com/albums/cc512/ANFreeman/Jersey%20Sprites/siemens.png Reus. The Dutch had some solid results so far this season. His biggest win might have been the overall in the Czech republic. With his good combination of climbing and time trial skills he is surely one of the big favourites here. Also their 2nd time trialist Schädlich mustn`t be ignored. The German is one of the strongest chrono men but suffers a bit more on the hilly ground.

i1215.photobucket.com/albums/cc512/ANFreeman/Jersey%20Sprites/Rothaus.png Boom had a superb spring season but lost his form a bit since then. Decent result in Bayern and then losing his self-confidence in the following races like in Luxembourg. Here he surely wants to perform on his spring level. Also their 2nd star is participating here. Maxime Vantomme might be one of the 2-3 big favourites for the flat stages and surely expects his first season win.

i1215.photobucket.com/albums/cc512/ANFreeman/Jersey%20Sprites/puma.png Rolland just convinced the experts by winning the Tour de Beauce in Canada. Can he continue with his good form winning also the Post Danmark Tour? For the sprints they put a lot of hopes in Lars Croket.

i1215.photobucket.com/albums/cc512/ANFreeman/Jersey%20Sprites/calgiant.png Koren is another hot favourite here. Similar rider like the first three combining good climbing and time trial skills. He is still missing the big win like the first three but was often quite close to it.
With JJ Haedo they also have on of the fast men in this race.

i1215.photobucket.com/albums/cc512/ANFreeman/Jersey%20Sprites/unicredit.png Bonnet. The French man is normally linked to a decent sprinter. Often you forget that he is also a pretty good time trialist. So on this flat course he surely belongs to the favourites. In especially if he can also gain some time with time bonuses for a podium sprint result. Unfortunately for him his team mate Napolitano might be their main sprinter.
Also Vandborg riding on home ground being a good time trialist could pay out for them if he comes over the hills.

i1215.photobucket.com/albums/cc512/ANFreeman/Jersey%20Sprites/koppert.png Flens is a solid time trialist but just like Bonnet and Vandborg without very good puncheur abilities. But if he stays with the best he might have good chances for the podium.

i1215.photobucket.com/albums/cc512/ANFreeman/Jersey%20Sprites/BPost.png Elijzen is a solid bet for a top10. He has a strong team around, which is able to hold the peloton together if stronger puncheurs attack.

i1215.photobucket.com/albums/cc512/ANFreeman/Jersey%20Sprites/Pokerstars.png Clement. Next to Clement also Van Impe already showed his qualities in Bayern for example. Also they have the top sprinter here. Mohs might be the biggest favourite next to Vantomme, Haedo and Haedo.

i1215.photobucket.com/albums/cc512/ANFreeman/Jersey%20Sprites/Meiji.png Bauer/Lagutin. Not the best but definitely a strong duo, that should collect some important points for the Japanese team.

i1215.photobucket.com/albums/cc512/ANFreeman/Jersey%20Sprites/Trilux.png Haussler. Not really a favourite for the overall but the German sprinter might be one of the best on the hilly terrain and might have advantages against the others.

i1215.photobucket.com/albums/cc512/ANFreeman/Jersey%20Sprites/wwe.png Sutherland. Expect them to be part of some breakaways. Sutherland is a good shot of a late top10 spot but therefore he needs some good riding.

i1215.photobucket.com/albums/cc512/ANFreeman/Jersey%20Sprites/tinkoff.png In the abstinence of top star Ignatiev Galimzyanov might be their top rider here looking for some decent sprint results.

i1215.photobucket.com/albums/cc512/ANFreeman/Jersey%20Sprites/saab.png Breschel is another sprinter with good puncheur qualities. Plus he is riding on home ground giving him a small boost.

i1215.photobucket.com/albums/cc512/ANFreeman/Jersey%20Sprites/focus.png Gaudin might be their best hope here although they don`t have a real GC rider. Probably a team for the breakaways.

Nice preview, roturn.

This should be a great race for Rothaus. I fancy Boom for the overall and Vantomme for a couple of stage wins.

Will be interesting to see how the 3rd stage plays out.

It looks like it will be a nervous little race for me - this was about the time that Milka came through and made their promotion bid. Of course it was a HC rated race last year, so the points are not quite as high but still it could be a lucrative race with that time trial.

Bpost are going to dangerous on stage 3, Vanspreybrouck is showing that he can win stages outside the cobbled season and that one looks like the kind of stage for him or Albert.

The TTers have sort of negatively waited for the TT's in these races allowing breaks to get uncatchable leads - Rothaus are under pressure to chase everything and they will be supported by Pokerstars surely so it should be one for the TTers to finally win.

So is Ignatiev absence explained by his 'abstinence'? Smile

Could be the answer, yes. Wink

@ ember: Hope you are right. Will play the stages today and on the next days, so Vantomme should really start to do something if he wants a decent contract next year. ;=)

I hope the breakaways won't play such a big role as they did in Beauce and some other recent stage races.

The startlist is pretty messed up, and I hope Rolland does no relay work (well, on the cobbles, it could be an advantage).
At least there is no really difficult stage where whole teams could drop back for a sprinter.

I'd like to see Rolland in the mix for the Top5, I guess the win goes to one of Boom, Reus, Bonnet here.
I really look forward to finally see some kind of performance from Croket and Kvist, with the latter on home ground as well.

Well, noone can get good results without racing races that suit him Grin

A top 10 would be great with my big hopes resting on that cobbled section.

True. But the races actually suit him. They just won`t bring me many points unfortunately. I missed to send him to many classics but he isn`t even scoring on flat stages in stage races unfortunately.
Hope he will get some stage wins later in the season, when other sprinters used their race days.

Vantomme still has: Danmark, Vattenfall, DeutschlandTour, Britain, Franco-Belge, Paris-Tours.

Don't have too high expectations for Franco-Belge and P-T Wink

Damn you. Wink I knew it.

Tours might go to you but in Franco Belge I will have National bonus. Wink

No Rapha? Shock

Should be interesting. A sprinter who can TT and isn't terrible on cobbles should win, but you never know.

Ouch, hugely disappointing for Rolland there!

Well, luck has to end eventually...
Still nothing convincing from Croket either, he's definately not worth the money yet.

Too much of a lottery based on last year. The cobbles inparticular being of annoyance to any GC hopes for Tennant. Plus I avoided any races where Ignatiev would have been top favourite. Only, it seems Ignatiev avoided one of those races here aswell!

When I saw that Breschel was up there in 2nd last picture I thought he had a good chance at the podium but ending up at 6th, quite close finnish,
Also nice seeing Aistrup beeing active in the break!

BoogieBoogie
Didn't expect this one Smile Really nice.

Why are my guys working? Van Loocke isn't strong enough to match these guys. Ah well at least it keeps them up front.
