In July 2010 Fernando Alonso called a press conference, which the press assumed was something to do with motorsport. To the press' surprise Alonso was informing the media that the cycling team that he said he would one day create was not just wishful thinking and that he had secured three major sponsors and atleast 6 rider(although no contracts had been signed)
Alonso three weeks later called a press conference with Jean Totd(Ferrari CEO) saying that they had now come to agreeance to make a super cycling team. Ferrari Pro Cycling.
Alonso said he could not release any rider names due to the fact that all riders are bound by contract to not sign any contracts or make any negotiations until their current contract is over. This does not stop some riders from making verbal agreements. Although Alonso could not release any names, everyone knew for a fact that him and Alberto Contador were good friends and he would be sure to be on the team.
In August 2010 Alonso said he had a full roster ready and he would release the team and management when they were granted their World Tour Status.

Alberto Contador. The greatest climber of his generation and one the best all time. To have him on Ferrari is a privilege.
 Andre Greipel
Andre Greipel is probably the third best sprinter in the peloton when every rider is 100% fit. Andre compassion shown toward his cycling is truly amazing.
 Matti Breschel
Matti Breschel is a great man to have for the classics. Ferrari was built around Alberto Contador, the riders were picked to help him win a grand tour, but this does not mean we wont win any classics, with having Matti, this gives us a hell of chance.
Luis Leon Sanchez
Luis' Climbing and Time trialling abilities make him a excellent rider, he may not be the best TT or best climber but being very good at both makes him a formidable force.
Marcus Burghart
Marcus Burghart is a force to be reckoned with, his hill climbing skills just compliments his cobblestoning to make him a perfect co-leader for the classics with Matti.
 Richie Porte
The young Australian from Down Under is very young and already a great talent. Ferrari hopes to send Richie to the Giro or Vuelta and give him some experience so he may become a great GT rider for the future.
Daniel Navarro
Great Teammate

Great young talent.
 Greg Van Avermaet
Great teammate for the classics, may get to do his own leadership in a few.

Overall the roster looks good, but there are some riders that don't make sense for me. Like Phinney, Porte, and Boom. But then again it's your team, good luck
