A New Power Rises in the East
It was announced earlier today at a press conference in the Czech capital, Prague, that a new professional cycling team would launch for the start of the 2012 season. The team, which will be a pro-continental outfit, will consist entirely of Eastern European riders and is being funded and backed by companies and institutions from multiple countries of the region, including Euro 2012 hosts Poland and Ukraine.
The location of the press conference was a big giveaway as to where the team will actually be based, Czech Republic. It is believed that the main sponsor will be Czech manufacturing giant Skoda. However, it is believed that the team will be registered in Poland.
The leader of the project, who simply goes by the alias brewers90, said he was extremely excited at the prospect of leading this landmark team which aims to bring all of the riders from the region together and attempt to get to the World Tour within two seasons.

Welcome to Skoda - Orlen Professional Cycling Team
Skoda are pleased to be the co-sponsor of the team. Having been involved in professional cycling for a long time, we now want to become a real part of the cycling family. We obviously will provide the team with all the vehicles and our main aim is to ensure that the team maintains a strong Czech representation and to bring through young Czech stars with our own academy.
PKN Orlen are delighted to be the co-sponsor of the new Eastern European pro cycling team. We are a Polish company and one of Eastern Europe’s largest refiners of crude oil. Our main aim is to develop the next generation of Polish stars as well as financially supporting any other Eastern European cyclists.
Focus bikes can announce that we will be the sole bike provider for Skoda - Orlen Professional Team. We can ensure the team of absolute quality and reliability as they ride our Izalco frame into their debut season.
We can now reveal our first ever jersey with which we will take on the rest of the cycling world. We hope you like it.
All credit to baggieboys32 for the jersey and equipment

Team Presentation
Team Leaders
Peter will aim to do as well as he possibly can if we get a wildcard for a Grand Tour. Even if we don't, he starts the season as our primary stage race leader and will lead us in most week long mountainous Tours.
Simon is not quite as competitive as Peter at the moment, certainly not against the clock, but he will be looking to improve a lot this season. He is also a very good all rounder and can help on all terrains.
Borut joins the team as our leading sprinter, if a race finishes in a big bunch, then Borut will hopefully be there to finish it off for us.
Yauheni is our second sprinter. He is just as quick as Borut on paper, but lacks in most other areas, particularly once it starts to go uphill. We have to hope for no speedbumps with Huta!
Grega will be our main man in the hilly races, particularly the ones in Italy, where he may have a chance of keeping up with the best. He is also a good sprinter by rights. We hope for big things from Grega.
Protected Riders
Szmyd is a very experienced climber that has contributed to many a big victory for his past teams. He will be hoping for a chance to ride a Grand Tour, no doubt. We will attempt to make that a reality for our super climber.
Robert may be the only Croatian on the team, but he is more than good enough to represent his country. Another climber in the mould of Szymd but he is arguably better all-round and we hope he will improve to become an out-and-out team leader in the near future.
Another talented Slovenian, Kocjan is a very similar rider to compatriot Bole. If he isn't helping Grega, he will definitely be getting his own chances on tougher stages ending in a sprint. He also has decent climbing and TT skills, so may do well in shorter tours.
Andriy is a very talented Ukrainian all rounder. As well as being a useful mountain domestique and time-triallist, he is also decent over the cobbles. In general, a very useful rider for any team.

I can make some logo's if you want, beause the current one is a bit pixelated.

Lucky you
If you want to go ahead and make some, I'm not going to stop you! I'd definitely have a look at them. But I'm okay with the ones I have now, it's not that important really. |

Another 'just to make perfect' tip: change your team name to lower case letters. You can do this in the DB

Season Aims and Objectives
I won't be using the goals that the game set me because, surprise, surprise, they're ridiculous!
The main aim of Team Skoda - Orlen this season will be to simply gel and to get used to riding with their new team mates. However, our major goal of the season is to win the Tour de Pologne. It will of course be difficult, but as a Polish/Czech team, that will be our home race. Other goals include winning the Tour de Slovenie and getting a wildcard to at least one Grand Tour, hopefully the Giro.
We hope to perform well in all of the big Continental Tour races so that we can attempt to gain promotion, or, at least, build a platform on which we can get promoted next season. We will not be applying for wildcards for every WorldTour race, but only ones where we feel we can perform to the best of our abilities.
Our season will begin far away from home in South America at the Tour de San Luis before a different set of riders tackle two races in Italy, Giro della Calabria and GP Costa degli Etruschi. We then head to another different continent, Asia, for the Tour of Qatar. We hope to see you out on the road. |

Road Race
1 Baden Cooke Greenedge Cycling Team
2 Heinrich Haussler Garmin - Barracuda +20
3 Matthew Goss Greenedge Cycling Team
4 Simon Clarke Greenedge Cycling Team
5 Wesley Sulzberger Greenedge Cycling Team
6 Simon Gerrans Greenedge Cycling Team
7 Matthew Lloyd Lampre ISD
Greenedge had a great debut with 1-3-4-5-6, only Haussler in second prevented a clean sweep for the Aussie team. Veteran Baden Cooke gets to wear the green and gold for the year.
Time Trial
1 Richie Porte Sky Pro Cycling
2 Cadel Evans BMC Racing Team +44
3 Michael Rogers Sky Pro Cycling +51
4 Rory Sutherland United Healthcare Pro Cycling +1'21
5 Luke Durbridge Greenedge Cycling Team +1'45
No real surprises here. Evans in a Sky sandwich as Porte romped to victory and he will wear the green and gold skinsuit for the year. Good performance from newcomer Durbridge aswell.

The season, and of course, our story gets underway for the team in Argentina for the Tour de San Luis. The race consists of seven stages and the winner will probably be a punchy stage racer due to the fact that there are 2 uphill finishes and a time-trial. We will be doing all we can to get a good result with Robert Kiserlovski our leader. Hutarovich will be going for some sprint wins and we definitely hope to pick up our first ever stage win here.

Tour de San Luis Stage 1 Report
Favourites: Hutarovich, Degenkolb, van Staeyen, Turgot, Gatto
The team enters its debut race with the favourite for the stage win, Hutarovich, but can he deliver?
Under a sweltering sun, the season gets underway. Hutarovich leads the peloton out of the start town
Eventually a break of 13 riders went up the road, including Palomares, Bibby and Boivin. The only mountain sprint was won by Boillat of Champion System
Once the gap hit six minutes, we worked alongside Movistar to bring it back. The rider second in line is Marzcynski in the Polish champion's jersey
A bad day for one of the GC contenders, Sutherland, who punctured and never made it back to the peloton despite his team's efforts
The break was caught easily, and as the sprint started, Veelers had rode away from teammate Degenkolb, whilst Yauheni was on Gatto's wheel on the other side
It was a blanket finish between the top 4, but van Staeyen just beat Degenkolb on the line. Hutarovich took a solid fourth after fading in the last 100m

This looks really nice. Good presentation, good reports, a very appealing team! I hope you keep this going for a while.
Just one thing: If you put the results in a table (table=100%)(/table), with angular brackets, then they are more clear, in my opinion. Also, I wouldn't center them, but that's just a personal thing

Ver nice team, we all chose it well
Nice start in Argentina, good luck all the season (especially with my favourite Czechs and Slovakians)
Also what Cunego59 suggest would be nice, it looks better that way...

Good report, and a good start for your team. Fitness might not be the best, but Hutarovich can improve that 4th place. |

@cunego59 and Avin, I've changed it now in the post above, is that better?
Thanks for the nice comments aswell, especially from a story writing legend like cunego
@sutty68, not bad at all, and I don't know if you can tell from the screenshot, but he was a bike length away from the win. Very close.
@Freitas, thanks . Huta's fitness is ok compared to some of the others on the team so he should definitely be able to get on the podium at the very least. |
