13 teams will start this race looking for some points and some victories. There are a lot of favourites, so let's talk a bit about them:

One of the top ones is Wegmann, one of Trilux's hilly stars. The team is built around him, as they have no man for the sprints. Wegmann's kick may well be suited for this race, but Froome's is also very good. Maybe even better than Wegmann on the hills, Froome has in Appelby or maybe even on Sulzberger decent helpers when the pendent rises. This race will surely be unpredictable, because there are not one, two or even three clear favourites. Wegmann and Froome are Cyanide's top rated, but what about Hermans, a guy with many power that is very good on the hills and even better in the flat? He surely is a favourite, just like Flugel, VW's hilly hope. This German rider is alongside Froome, in the paper, the better on the hills. To close the favourites list, we have Costa, from CSC, who will have strong help from Soler and Zaballa, and Kirchen, 6th of last year's final ranking, who will also have strong hilly help in Chérel and Mori.

Also a word about the sprinters, which will have three stages for them. Kennaugh is a very strong sprinter and he will surely try to get some victories here. Maksimov is also very fast, mas he might not be good enough to survive the hills on those nearly flat stages. Rizza, Gasparotto, Giaux and Feillu are the others sprinters that, in our opinion, are able to put on a good display in this race.

Here is hoping Van Loocke can get at least one Top 5 and that I can get in the break on most days. Good luck everyone.

Nice. Was time to start the season. And after some announcements I already feared a damn hard start list. But now my personal goal to get a top5 here is definitely possible I think.
Just my plan to get some top5 in the sprints could be hard, but maybe Cucinotta can surprise us with Iglinsky and Westphal as supporter.

Our 3 young guns are here to learn, although the two Czech are on loan from Milka - Vittel.

I hope for good placing from Flügel, and some good sprinting from Förster. If I can get that I'm happy Grin

Be interested to see how this goes.

Had Ginanni pencilled in for this, but had to cut it due to race day issues.

With just 13 teams entered, too bad a couple of D2 teams were not invited as wildcards.

I was the same with Gautier, and I think I'm slightly regretting not bringing him here.

@ Mhaley45 - I think the wildcards will all be later in the season as a reward for staying active.

according to starting list, AI even decided that your leader is even weaker than Control team´s one, presence of Gautier would be very useful then Wink

good luck with my former sprinter Jurgen Van Loocke!

I am actually happy that the Ginanni and Gautier aren`t here.
Froome, Flügel, Wegmann and Kirchen with his Jayco support are already enough opponents. Wink

But aren`t there 14 teams participating? This shows my Wellington Excel file as also the startlist here. Wink

The podium in the GC would be great and Wegmann has a realistic chance to do so. I also want a stage win as stage 4 seems to be perfect for him: weaker sprinters will likely fall back and other pucheurs aren´t as fast as he is.

It's time to launch the Russian Rocket! Though I fear he might fail opening inspections (hills) and won't make it to lift off. Sad

Without a breakaway Wegmann should be the sure favourite for this stage. But when Gasparotto, Iglinski and even Capecchi and Jelloul are able to join the first group, then we might see an interesting sprint.

But also the 2nd stage suits him best as I don`t think that the others get rid of him on the short climb.

I don't regret it. He had a chance of the overall and two stage victories. Other races gave him greater opportunities - but will no doubt have stronger fields.

My money is on Wegmann for this.

Thanks, I'll probably need it!

And yeah, but it is strange they picked Stallaert, he isn't really my best leader here. Cya logic for you.

You are right, some D2 teams here could have been nice.
I think Froome has a good shot here.

Are you sure about the average wage and average average?

For it to be 69 for riders and the average wage to be 100,000+ seems a bit high....

roturn
Yes. Pretty sure if Excel is not kidding me. Wink
I was also surprised by the 100,000+, but just 45/98 riders have minimum wage and 29 riders earn at least 100.000.

Blame it on George Bennett Wink (AVG 69, Wage 375,000)
