Hi guys,
I just tried a few times the same stage to see if I better use normal or hard race level, it is a flat stage, I am playing with a custom team, Feillu is my best sprinter and he is the favorite of this race.
My problem is on normal I can easily create a train, with 4-5 riders. Offredo setting the pace in the 5 last kms and then 2 lead out men (70 and 73 Sp) and I get an easy win with Feillu, most of the time I get a 1-2, with Feillu and Galland (my last lead out). Never lost on normal...
So I guess hard is my level, I try the same race; first time I try to make a train: impossible, Offredo (who has one of the highest flat stat of the peloton) can't bring my train on top of the peloton, and Feillu finishes 7th. 2nd time I forget the train and tell Feillu to hold on to Bobbie Traksel (73 sp), who won the sprint last time. Everything goes on well Landbourkrediet make their train, they are the only ones in front, 1.3km from the finish Traksel launches his sprint and Feillu can't pass him in the end, he even finishes 3rd because Van Djik who was behind him in the train passed in front...
I don't get how I couldn't win this race, Feillu was in great shape and has 77 in Sp (and good other stats) whereas Van Djik has 75 and Traksel (who won again) has 73...
I was wondering, because I remember I saw it was possible to see the stat change with difficulty in a certain file I can't find, and "create" a new difficulty between hard and normal
Thanks a lot.
Team Europcar !!
RIP Wouter

This is exactly my problem. Hard is too hard for me and normal is too easy.. I wonder if there is something I can do with that, I'll try to look on it tomorrow in the DB..

I'm fairly sure its in the Local.cdb . Try opening it with Lachi's editor and then go to STA_Race Difficulty. It shoudl be fairly straight forward from there, make the Normal difficulty harder, but still not quite as high as hard.

i assume one can do this in any editor? i seem to get nothing in PCM fast editor, open a db and go into STA_race_difficulty. just blank. not sure why

For me, Normal is tooooooo easy, and hard is easy..so, i played in extreme, and of course things are so hard, i play with vacansoleil and with leukemans i only did top 10 in de ronde, gent, e3 prijs. But i finished 2nd in milan-sanremo, leukemans attacks in poggio but gilbert in via roma catch him and defeat him for 1 or 2 inches .
Conclusion for me:
If you play with a regular or bad team, play it in hard.
If you play with a strong team, play it in extreme

Thanks a lot dude; exactly what I was looking for
I tried to open STA_Race_Difficulty in the Database but it was blank, so local was the place
I created a new difficulty level
I changed hard (1,0249999761581421 to 1,0149999761581421) should be hard enough

Have exactly the same issue, on normal it's very ease to create a leadout train and give the most mediocre sprinters a victory, yet on hard the leadout train can be formed but simply doesn't get you where you need to be and the sprint is far far harder. |

Another thing I've noticed is trying to get into a breakaway. On hard, it seems like the peloton is desperate not to let you go at all, whereas on normal you can escape quite easily. |

That's the reason is called "HARD" , in NORMAL , all is easy. |

If normal is easy, what would easy be???
Also I don't think it is related to the difficulty but rather the type of stage combined with the riders you are trying to send into the break.

I'm just suggesting (and providing an example), like others in this thread, that the gap in difficulty between hard and normal is too big. |

i play on normal and have my own problems
of course, it doesn't help that my sponsor sets unrealistic goals (win omloop for example) with Thomas as my best cobbler
easy is too easy - set up a train and then get 1st-4th in the stage |

I don't think ive won a sprint on hard yet even when i have the best sprinters they just get beaten. I did a race where my sprinter was in a group of five when he got to the final sprint, so i thought i would finally win a sprint but he got beaten by a someone who had a sprint of 69 my riders sprint was 76. |

Playing as Topsport Vlaanderen my best result on hard is 4th in the first stage of Etoile with Van Stayen. Make sure you have two or three guys ahead of you in a lead-out of your own and that your sprinter is on good form.

Playing on hard and it is going well. Gilbert won Milan-Sanremo, LBL, Amstel gold race and le fleche wallone. He was second in Tour of Flanders and 6th in Paris-Roubaix. Now in the Giro, won a stage with Bakelants, he is wearing the white jersey after 14 days. |

On the extreme level things like form and energy management make much more of an impact to your rider's performance...
You won't win long series of races anymore as other riders in good form will indeed beat you, despite having lower stats.
And this energy management is essential. Spend as little as you can throughout the race, monitor your riders carefully on relatively low 'keep position' percentages, never accelerate on mountains/hills, etc etc... |
