The rider who wins on Alpe-d'Huez often goes on to win in Paris, as Carlos Sastre underlined in 2008. With just two stages to follow, this could turn into a 109.5km mountain sprint. There is little chance to warm up before the course reaches the 34km ascent comprising the Télégraphe and the epic north face of the Galibier. There are sure to be some breaks, with riders hoping they can defend their advantage on the long descent into Bourg d'oisans and onto the first ramps of the alpe, where the winner will climb into Tour history.

Probably Fränk's turn now. He'll attack early to gain as much time as possible on Evans, while Andy will follow Cadel and try to distance him later if he has the legs too.

In terms of a neutral perspective I hope Contador attacks far out to gain time back. This should be an exciting stage.

I didn't say that Vanendert was going to be second on both climbs. There is a good chance that he beats Sánchez on them.

This stage will be really interesting for sure. Both Schlecks really needs to gain some time on Evans. And still, there is Thomas Voeckler in yellow. And maybe Contador and Sanchez will try to get some time back with an attack on Galibier.. And still there are Basso and Cunego. They can be really strong on this stage as well. This will be great stage for sure. And still, it's open race.
And from fan perspective, here is the last chance for Kreuziger. But I think there is absolutely no chance that break will survive to the end. And then Schlecks. Frank looked really great today. Andy did amazing effort today, but he can explode tomorrow. So I think, tomorrow it will be Frank's day. It can be really a replay of 2008. Cadel will guard Andy and Voeckler, but Frank will gain some significant time on him, like Sastre did in 2008, he can be the man, who will be the most fresh of all favourites tomorrow.
And it will be interesting to watch if Contador will try to come back. Like we know him, he will try to do something on the Galibier. Today he looked back, but maybe he will do a Landis attack tomorrow. Or he can be amazingly good on the last climb. I really didn't expect he would have so bad day today. But anyway 4.44 with his great time trial is still good gap.
We will see. With these two stages remaining, it will be great finale of this year's Tour! Let win the best!

I think it is possible that Andy has enough time on Cadel already. I am a big Evans fan but think he may have lost it today by letting Andy go. He did a great job to claw it back and I hope he can grab some time on this stage but I think it is just beyond him now. |

For Friday’s 110km stage across the Galibier the permitted finishing time is the winner’s finishing time plus:
• 9% if the average speed is less than or equal to 30 km/h
• 10% between 30 km/h & 31 km/h;
• 11% between 31 km/h & 32 km/h;
• 12% between 32 km/h & 33 km/h;
• 13% between 33 km/h & 34 km/h;
• 14% between 34 km/h & 35 km/h;
• 15% between 35 km/h & 36 km/h;
• 16% between 36 km/h & 37 km/h;
• 17% between 37 km/h & 38 km/h;
• 18% between 38 km/h & 39 km/h;
• 19% between 39 km/h & 40 km/h;
• 20% over 40 km/h
Its worth noting that for all speeds, they are 3% more than today - and if these percentages were in play today, everybody would have made the time limit

Contador won't be going for anything, for the same reason he couldn't handle the main group today: he doesn't have it, whatever you wanna call it (strength, health, beef). If he had anything to give today he would have given it to reach the front.

Could be interesting to see if today was an "off-day" or if this is really what he has left in the tank - I'm not a Contador-fan, but I sort of think he deserves a stage win on top of all the crashes and the overall bad luck he's had in this tour.
Honestly, I can understand if the Giro was just too hard this year for him to recover. |

110km and two horse climbs. Tour short stages as been thrillers always. There will be just pieces left |
