Le Tour de France 2011
Stage 15: Limoux > Montpellier 192km
Stage Information (from cyclingnews.com)
Usually in a Tour, the sprinters and breakaway specialists can count on contesting at least two and perhaps even three "transition" stages between the Pyrenees and the Alps. This year though, they've got just the one. With the prevailing wind off the Med likely to be pushing them onwards at a blistering pace, the main issue today could be the heat and the cumulative effect of two weeks in the saddle. But the thought that they are on the verge of the second rest day in St-Paul-Trois-Châteaux should give everyone a boost, especially the sprinters.

This is the stage the Schlecks have been waiting for to make a difference

I dunno. I'm probably going to sit through it and do something useful. Climbing the Keirin ladder rankings possibly.

But he'll look behind, and will see his brother struggling to keep his pace. He'll then stop and think, "aww, sucks".

Did you see the interviews today post-stage? Andy was going on about how he and his brother are the heroes for attacking and how only Basso did the same.
Basso basically called them idiots.

And idiots they are, indeed. This is THE chance to win the Tour, with AC injuried and tired. If they fail, they'll regret this missed chance for a long time. Maybe for their whole career.

I think Giro had a rest day on the weekend. I remember thinking like wtf when I got home for the weekend (had no chance to watch eurosport in the week) to discover it was a rest day.

Trying to start talking about this stage.
Should be the 4th stage win for Cav, no chance for a breakaway win. |

Basso basically called them idiots.
So they call those little acceleration attacks. That when they'll never win the Tour.
And who do they want to see attacking? Evans, who is like always waiting for the time - trial, or Voeckler, who is the yellow jersey? They are the ones that need to attack.

Exactly what I was thinking. If they won't be able to beat Contador in these conditions, when will they?

28 men break will make it to the finish, with the best one of them being a potential G.C. contender who'll make it back to the top 10.
Aitor Gonzalez 2004 style, though I'm not sure he made it back to the top 10.

And he likes his brother so much that he's never going to take the risk to put him in trouble. Better finish 3rd and 4th (always together), than 1st and 6th, eh ? |

Excellent, a stage where you can guarantee that the favourites for the stage will give it all they can to win, and not hold anything back.

For 200m, and only because they've spent the last 3 days being pulled along by a car
