If the number starts flashing red, it means you need to increase your rider's effort, or they might fall out the back of the group your in.

There isn't a tutorial for this year's edition of the game yet, but there is one for last years:
https://www.pcmdaily.com/forum/viewthr...d_id=16325
Or, you could read the game manual.

I'm having the exact same problem with Contador. On every mountain, when the percentages turn high, the number starts flashing red and he loses a great amount of energy. I've tried to restart the stage a few times now, but it seems as though as Contador is destined to go down on that stage.
Is there any cure for this or do i have to simply bite it? |

What effort are you putting Contador on? |

That might be a bit low, I normally set it to 85, which is just enough for them to slowly use the red bar to keep up.
A bigger question is how is his form?

i have 89 to keep riders that i ain't watching just up there and works well enough but you should change between putting him on his own effort and maybe relaying sometimes depending on postion favourites status and other riders in race. |

Well he's still a bit rusty, but I did not recognize any sign of weakness on the stage before this, which as well were a mountain stage.
I'll try to put up the effort bar a bit, but it seems odd to me, that a rider who is having a hard time needs to work even harder in order to get better.. The red bar is flashing on every mountain throughout the whole stage. |

Well, theoreticly speaking there's not any difference between having him on 80 or 60 if he needs to be at 90. Just try increasing it untill the flashing stops.
It might also be that he had a bad day-form? There can be a huge difference between +4 and -4. |

I just gave it a few more shots, but it's the same.. His dayform was never below 0 and most of the times actually in +. At times the flashing even continued even though i had him on 99..
Well, I've won the stage every time with C. Sorensen so it seems like I have to accept the fact that it is determined for Conta to have a bad day |

When I ask how his form is, before the race there is an actual number that tells you his form. This can have a huge effect on how hard he has to work.

Try dotting him and let him ride his own pace behind someone. I've experienced that a great climber can't hang on to the group up a climb, but that's because the other riders were going to fast even for them. They all hit the wall and I still won because I was riding at my own pace. |

His form is shitty and that might be the very problem, but since I've never experienced it before it seemed odd. Anyway, thanks for all of your help. Is there any way you can edit his form from outside the game? In that way i would be able to check if that is the problem. |

I his form is around 60 or something, then I think you can be guaranteed that that's the problem. |

Try with Clembuterol that seems to work fine with Contador |

It was 73, so it could have been worse. |

Well, if he's only got 73 then it's no wonder he's struggling. |
