Hi all,
I've been somewhat on the fence about picking this up. Seems here like there's a lot of positive reviews, a lot of improvements in the game (GUI, solid riders, etc), but it also seems like there are still some bugs/annoying aspects of it (for example some of the boxing-in issues I saw in the general news thread).
So what is everyone's general thought - is the game still enjoyable enough and realistic enough to be a buy?
I guess you'd call me a cycling-game newb. last version I bought was 2009, and I ended up being I guess you'd say decent at best at it (after reading a lot of help threads here). So I wouldn't be playing on hard or extreme difficulty level or anything. |

There is still bugs who are sometimes driving you mad (this is still a Cyanide game), mostly because of the solid riders and the weird wqy the whole positioning thing works but despite of that, I think its the funniest pcm ive played since 2006. The gameplay is pretty good and balanced, the moutain and hills stages are pretty realistic as are sorint and the game is really beautiful graphically speaking.

I would agree with ouk. Not a perfect game - but then again will it ever be Definitely an improvement compared to previous seasons and still enjoyable even with the bugs once you learn to take them into account. With the forthcoming PCM.Daily and ASO.DB it will become a really neat game and should prove good entertainment. I still haven't played a career game only classics and one-off stage races but I find the game a definite improvement racing wise - so I guess in conclusion: if you enjoyed PCM2009 then you should enjoy PCM2011 even more.
Of course with game like this it's always a little more fun if you know the cyclist and follow cycling a little. The racing is fun in itself but if you bring the emotions from real cycling into the game it's great fun. But this really doesn't matter if we are talking PCM2009 or PCM2011 |

There's no chance in the world that PCM10 is better. The gameplay was screwed up in both hilly and cobbled classics, and the mountains were quite boring.
Basically, PCM11 fixes the gameplay and adds a few new features. There's still a few issues, especially with the new features, but --- well, it's still July, and we can expect more patches |

Well with the latest patch screwed it all again. borring as hell, because you can predict whats happening, there is a super ai, on the last mount, and 2 min gap dissapear like snow in the sun. And while they close the gap you think the ai will be tired, but they have enough left in the tank to atck or make a unbeatable sprint 15 ladds mountain up. Even on easy mode ai passive this happens. |

The AI is much improved and the best ever:
- captains like Andy Schleck and Frank Schleck work together and attack on turns.
- unprediactable attacks in the classics
- great sprint trains in mass sprint finishes
just to name a few improvements best game in the series.

Cool - thanks for the opinions guys. Think I'll go ahead and pick it up one of these days.
I've got the order page up...now I just need to wait for my resolve to weaken so that I pull the trigger!

Sprints are also slightly unpredicatable and very realistic, one day Cavendish, Pettachi, Farrar and co will be up there contending and then the enxt they may be no where to be seen, I noticed this in Tour Down Under.
On PCM10 I could beat riders like Cavendish in a sprint with a sprinter like Sebastian Hinault but now I can't. In tour down under, I sat on Pettachi's wheel and then tried to pass him in the sprint, I never came close. Very realistic in my opinion.

Schlecks should play PCM 2011 then, as they are not able to do that irl

Being new to the series I haven't found much to complain on yet. I am still playing on easy all though I need to switch to normal fairly soon.
1. The music is horrible but so where the other PCMs I've heard. Mute it and put on you favorite playlist, problem solved.
2. Team mates not moving out of the way.
I had T. Martin stuck behind teammates for 2km in attack mode before he was able to get by and by this time it was too late. Granted it was my fault for not moving him in front of my pack, but still. Team mates should work together on such things without micromanagement. |

I think your 2nd point is just a thing of experience. It can be annoying, true, but the more you play the less it will happen. |

I bought it. First since 08. Had bought every edition since firtst version but had enough of the bugs. Some really fun new achievments. But also flawed that the game got same problems as it got 3 years ago. Yes some older then 3 year. But im sure with those smal improvments each year it isnt neccesary to buy it every year. But this edition is really good. Go for it i say. |

I think i will hold off until the game is patched up properly A(and the PCMDaily DB is out )
The gameplay does sound a lot better but I was hoping for big improvements in the management which doenst seem to have happened.
I might even wait till autumn and get a new computer to really play the game in all its graphical glory which is something i have never been too worried about before but feel like trying now |

If you have the discipline to wait, then hold off until the patches are done and the game is stable. You never know what patch might totally screw up the game. In PCM10, the game just got worse and worse with every patch (in my opinion), after the final patch, the game was basically unplayable in my opinion.
But, if Cyanide is able to continue to improve from one version to the next, then it'll be a strong/solid game when its all said and done. Also, no reason to start a career until PCM Daily database is released, so no real reason to buy yet anyway. Check back again at end of July. |
