More realistic names

I am actually quite tired of the unrealistic names for young riders in PCM. Some of them are even female names...
So, I was thinking about editing the files, so that the scouted riders will have more realistic names. But I will need your help.
I will need lists of popular names...everything that can help really.
So, if you have some links, some lists or anything, don't hesitate to give them to me, so we can have a more realistic DB |

Well, since nobody wanted to help I have decided to do it by myself. So far I have cleared the most unrealistic first names from most countries. I have fully updated: Australia, Canada, USA and Slovenia with realistic names from lists of most popular names. If available I have used lists of names from "realistic" times (about 1990) as this is whee most U23's are born |

Btw. I am basing this on the local.cdb from PCMDaily 2011 db, so when I am done I could upload it. With CrueTrues permission that is.
That way more people can enjoy it, and perhaps they can use it for future DB's |

It won't be perfect. Far from. But the point is: it will be better that the default cyanide names.
Example: I deleted all swedish common names, and replaced them with the 100 most popular names in 2000 (the oldest list I could find). For some of them I have added different spellings (Lukas and Lucas ex.). I will add as much details as I can find, but it's difficult for some countries |

Are the number of names the same as before? I'm guessing that that's quite important.
Also, as you mention, it's a good idea to duplicate the most popular names - either by doing as you did with different spellings, but also by adding middle names (Lukas K., Lukas V., Lukas <insert common middle name here> . |

The numbers are almost the same. USA and Canada has about 20-30 more, Austria have about 10-15 less for instance. But that's only so far. I will try to raise the number of names for every country. I have duplicated the most common, but I haven't yet added any middle names. That I will do, when I have an overview of what countries are missing some names |

As for South Africa i'd suggest a mixture between common australian and british names.
And the kazakh first names are mostly pretty similar to the russian ones. Or you could take some from this list of kazakh people: https://en.wikiped...of_Kazakhs

Well, for the Kazakhstani and Belarussian names I have gone through every squad in their football league, and noted which names were represented, and how many times. Then I will add all names that appear at least twice. It's not perfect, but at least it gives a good picture of the neme culture.
As for South Africa I was thinking along the lines of just adding british names, with a touch of dutch. |

Small update on my progress.
Nearly done with given names.
Still to go:
Portugal
Ukraine
Moldova
Switzerland
Germany (Done some. Will make it better)
Italy (Done some. Will make it better)
If I feel like it, I might have another look at Denmark and Luxembourg.
And then comes all the surnames... |

South African cycling is probably more dutch than British, one option would be to look at the rugby teams, and pick names from that. THe big problem with the current system is the mixing of African first names with European surnames, so I guess you would want to avoid that.

Exactly what I want to avoid. So I am keeping it simple with british names. Not 100% realistic but better than what we have now  |

A portuguese guy send me a list of names, so I have them covered. They have very similar names, so I have put in many "doubles" (Nuno Miguel, Nuno Augusto and so on) |
