Goals Announced
Today Saab-Scania showed the teams goals for season 2012 for public.
We have hopes to get top 5 in the team standings for all European teams. After a 3rd place from the bottom last year in the overall team standings we hope for much better season this year.
We do have high hopes in Scandinavia especially in Rogaland GP, Norway. In this race we hope we can have one good sprinter left after some hills and win the sprint. It will be hard too complete but it will be a fun challenge.
Our next goal is in Netherlands, Hel Van Het Mergelland. Maybe Johnny Hoogerland will feel good in his country and make our goal which is a top 5 result in this hilly race with some quite flat final kms.
And we also have a goal for one HC race which is Circuit Franco Belge, Belgium. In this race we don´t have one captain yet, we have hopes that Decouttere and Vanghell will do good in Belgium and that our sprinters will hang on in the hills and do well.
Our last goal is for our climbers and hilly riders. It´s Vuelta a Mallorca , Spain. It starts with two flat stages but with some small but hard climbs. And the last 3 stages is for those who feels at home in the tough terrain.
Win Rogaland GP
Top 5 Hel Van Het Mergelland
Top 5 Circuit Franco Belge
Top 5 Vuelta a Mallorca
Top 5 Europe Standings

Interview with Saab-Scania´s manager
Interviewer - Hello! You have previosly announced Thomas Lövkvist and Micheal Van Stayen as interesting targets in the transfer season, are there any more on your list that you are willing to name?
Manager - Right now we have one of our scouts out in Scandinavia to look at big talents who may want to go for a cycling career as you understand that´s not anybody we can set a name on but we hope for some good riders there.
We had a weak TT team last year and looking for some who can ride a good TT, and as we are a swedish team Johan Lindgren of course pops up. That´s what a can say right now.
I - Okey, thanks. Is there a particular type of cyclist you are looking for?
M - As I said we are looking for riders who can do a good TT races. But we have also find two swedish riders that are interesting for us , one who is a good helper in the mountains and the other is a rider who will help with his routine and ability to do good in the hills more then this we won´t say right now.
Good bye!
I - Thanks for this interview, I´m sure we will talk later in this season!

Interviewver: Hello! In one of our earlier interview you said that you had scouts out in Scandinavia too look at some talents, have you find anyone?
Manager: Hey there! We are happy to say that we have found some good talents, but we will not mention thier names. We have given some riders a contract to look at but we have not got any answer from them yet, so we just have to wait and see.
I: Okey, but what about already known riders?
M: Right know we can´t say with 100 % anyone of our riders will be in our team next season neither any new riders. But as said before we will give some of them contracts. That´s all for now!
I: Thanks and bye!

Team Festina looking at Marcel Wyss:
Team manager Andreas Jøhnke claims his interest in the swiss rider. "I believe he could be a great addition to our team, and we might be giving it a go. Perhaps in some sort of direct swap. Everything is very uncertain right now, and we obviously have to take a look at the demanded wage aswell."

Fredrik Kessiakoff did in a recent interview with Aftonbladet state that going to Saab-Scania would "be like a dream". Manager Heine stated that Kessiakoff are free to leave if a good offer comes around, and then went on to talk about what a great rider Johnny Hoogerland are.
Does Saab-Scania have any comments?

Responding on some of the rumors about the team;
If we start with our swiss, Marcel Wyss. He is on of our most loyal rider and you know almost always what you get out of him. But a transfer away from our team is not an impossibility, but the bid would have to be very attractive.
And if we talk about Johnny Hoogerland, well this looks more like an impossible transfer. He is one of our keyriders and our most aggresive rider.
We will of course receive bids, but we don´t think anybody can give us a good enough bid so Hoogie will probably stay where he is.
And about Fredrik Kessiakoff, he´s one of the riders we have talked about but he´s not nr 1 on our priority list.
But if we have the money that we need for signing him after we have talked with our "priority riders" we will ofc give Volkswagen-Siemens an offer to think about.

Saab - Scania are happy to get the chance to ride against the best in the world of cycling this season.
We have received wildcards for two Stage Races Tour of Romandie and Criterium du Dauphine Libere.
In this races Thomas Lövkvist will be our leader, he will have good help from Jonas Bjelkmark and Theo Eltink.
We have also the opportunity to ride a big race, Ronde Van Vlaanderen.
Matti Breschel is our leader in this race with help from Hushovd, Lund and Ista.
Tour of Romandie
In Switzerland we have 6 stages, one proulogue, one flat stage, one hilly stage, one TT hilly stage and finally 2 mountains stages.
Criterium du Dauphine Libere
One short TT stage and one long TT stage, one flat stage and 2 hillier stage. And 3 hard mountain stages.
Ronde Van Vlaanderen
This is a hard classicrace with cobblessections and hills.
MTN Cycling Classic
The first race of the season, a puncher with a good sprint may have a good shot at the win
Down Under Classic
A short race were we hope we can do well in, 2nd race of the season for us.
Corsica International
It´s a 3 stages race with one hard mountain stage and after that a flat stage and the final stage is a short TT. We know that Theo can climb but he´s not that good at the TT bike.

Transfer INFO
Management of Saab-Scania team finally had time to have a real conversation with each of the riders on the team. Everyone is happy with the feeling in the team and looking forward to the season ahead. But during the conversation with Fransesco Chicchi he revealed some info.
Last year Chicchi wasn´t the only Italian in the team when Jacopo Guarniere was contracted through a loan from Pokerstars.com
-He felt that there were no Italians in the managers plans this year, so he expressed a wish to leave the team if it got bids from any team based in Italy or any team with more Italians than in the Saab-Scania team.
After this conversation, the Saab-Scania management will do their best so the fast sprinter from Italy can get his wishes through.
