Tour of the Channel Islands Discussion
mb2612
i806.photobucket.com/albums/yy344/DailyManGame2011/channel.png

The tour of the channel islands is an entirely flat race with a time trial, yes Ignatiev is here.

However there is a twist, for although Ignatiev has been all but unstoppable this year, in the United Kingdom some other riders pick up their game. WIggins, Millar and Stannard will all be gunning for this one and will run Ignatiev close

Then there are the sprinters: Cavendish, Bozic, Kip etc. and they shouldn't be ruled out if they can stay close in the time trial.

It's going to be a fascinating few days

SN: Maybe you thought Cav would be good considering he is from a British island.

Could be quite an unpredictable one, I may even go out on a limb and say Ignatiev will not win!

Interesting one really as Wiggle have pute Luke Rowe in their squad which in theory may keep Ignatiev out of final sprints.

Question: Is there no KOM competition here?

Theres not really any climbs to choose from, when you see how the stages turned out PCM wise. Theres a few bumps, but nothing substantial.

No intermediate sprints either, so all about the TT and the finishes.

No real expectations, like SN also don't see why i don't have Nazon or even Gajek here. Bagdonas can ride a decent TT. Kocjan can sprint a bit and TT and Pacheco can sprint and survive hills (more or less).

Will be interesting to see.

wasn't incredibly easy to predict without pcm profiles but i'm hoping home advantage will pay off here.

let's hope it's tough enough to drop him but not wiggo or millar.

Not bad at all, don't know about the bonification seconds but who knows, maybe Kocjan can do something in them.

Haha, Ignatiev beaten by 2 Brits, and most importantly, Stannard wins. Revenge for the IOM TT!

And even better. 1st is a 2011 100% Me rider, just beating two 2010 100% Me riders.

Now to hope Wiggle work for Rowe, and Ignatiev doesnt end up taking a Top 3. But he probably will. Oh and go Cavendish!

My theory on this is if Ignatiev was off before the other two he'd have beaten them.

I think you probably mean after.

But even then, its a pretty weak theory imo.

The wind was identical for Ignatiev and Stannard, Wiggins had a slight advantage in the wind: 42 compared to 36, but the wind was only a slight head wind so I doubt it made more than a seconds difference.

I do indeed. Embarassed

But, I was right. Reading the report I thought 2nd man off for Wiggle - he hasn't a chance of the win.

If you can find me a couple of reports of an early starter winning a TT against similar oppostion I'll gladly change my mind.

Off the top of my head

Kittel was a fairly early starter in last years U23 World TT - certainly riding before the likes of Keizer and Phinney, who you might have expected to beat him.
https://www.pcmdaily.com/forum/viewthr...d_id=11049

I got the impression that Ford was fairly early on in the Dauphine prologue he won
https://www.pcmdaily.com/forum/viewthr...d_id=15166
His win last season was early as a very early starter - although in this case wind was certainly a factor
https://www.pcmdaily.com/forum/viewthr...d_id=11002

Last year's Herbiers also saw Zabriskie win as an early starter, but admittedly he did outclass opposition, so would have won wherever he started.
https://www.pcmdaily.com/forum/viewthr...d_id=11111

Of course, it is more likely that later starters do well in stage races where the TT isnt first, as generally the better riders are starting later, and there is always the form of the day variable that we never know what it is.

The other race that I have reported on in which Ignatiev was beaten by Stannard was at the Tour od Belgium. Stannard started some time before the Russian and Ignatiev lost.

This years IOMTT favoured the early starters - Wiggins came nowhere (this time because there was no wind) and he started practically last, as opposed to Ignatiev, Taaramae and Olman who went out very early.

EDIT: It was a very good stage indeed for Pendleton's, I can not say it enough I underestimated wacko's team at the beginning of the season and they have shown how to pick up points consistently throughout. With Gilbert having so many races left in the locker they are looking likely to be in the Protour next season, bravo!

Bacardi and Milka (who I believe have outside promotion chances) will be looking on hopefully at the next three stages.

Team Falcon has a cyclist in top 10 in a ITT?!
That´s unusual!

I know the game is hating my British sprinters this year, but seriously? Cavendish sprinting backwards so much he wasnt even in the peloton for the results. And Froome lost time also.

Any idea on why Mb?
