Already in News In September, although it does need a thread of its own. Wrong forum though... |

It's an excuse. Nothing will happen, which sucks.
Also, seems Abdu once tested positive for this, interesting. |

Every caught rider has a bad excuse at first.
Sometimes they admit (10%)
Often they deny (89%)
Maybe it`s really just bad luck (1%)
But still agree to you. It won`t happen very much probably.

You wouldn`t expect a positive of Contador at all.
So who`s the UCI guy that failed to keep quiet |

If this happens Saxobank is gone, that's probably a bad thing, as is the timing.
As for the middle of the night, Australians are awake now, and newspaper headlines will have just been announced.

For now Im still sceptical of how much will come of this
But there is a precedent. Fuyu Li - also tested positive for Clenbuterol

I'm also sceptical, because of this part:
"The experts consulted so far have agreed also that this is a food contamination case, especially considering the number of tests passed by Alberto Contador during the Tour de France, making it possible to define precisely both the time the emergence of the substance as the tiny amount detected, ruling out any other source or intentionality."
It sounds weird to me too, if he passes every test and then suddenly there is a small amount of substance. To me, it sounds a lot like food contamination! |

I guess the counter argument (and a much harder one to prove) is that the reason he didnt fail those other tests was due to the presence of some form of masking agent - that was for some reason missing, or ineffective, in the case of this positive test.

Contador have complained more and more about his allergies the recent years, and Clenbuterol helps open up the airways....He might have been desperate after struggling in Criterium international etc. early spring. |

Like Thomas Frei said. If you are caught then just because you was stupid and forgot to hide it. He just forgot to dring a bit water and he wouldn´t have been tested positive.
Same here. Tiny amount. Could be food contamination, could be bad hiding. Who knows

Could be, of course.
I think we're facing a long discussion of what is true or who is right...Something this sport didn't really need. Ugh. |

I think the fact that he announced it rather than looking for ways to hide the entire thing speaks well of him. Of course that's probably just good press management. We will see how this unfolds over the next few days. |

I'm only sorry for the upcoming world champion, who won't get the headlines, as Contador gets them instead. |
