I couldn't find any threads about Tactics so i decided to make one.
Sprints - For me the most easy way is to have 2 riders and a sprinter. one of the two has good flat and one has good sprint.
From the 12km mark you let your flat rider ride on dot 99% in his wheel the rider with sprint and in his wheel my sprinter. play whith the 99% because you want him to last so if you get in the lead to fast keep him lower than 99.
on the 2km you press sprint. Right afterwards you press sprint on the rider with sprint. He takes the lead and has the real sprinter in his wheel. On the 1k you can sprint your sprinter. Don't put him on 99 unless you think you have to.
Mountain stages are also quite okay. Keep you climber protected as much as possible and then when cotador attacks counter attack. Don't run on 99 because you wont hold up till the end.
Now i have a question. I cant seem to win a break away. I was wondering if anyone has working tactics on that. Staying on a certain HR for instance?
Also, when i have a sprinter in my team i alway let other team control because i don't know what % i should use for the leaders of the peleton... does anyone have a rule of thumb for this? |

@Caner26 -
For breakaways on PCM10, I usually get the best result by waiting for other riders to break first than counter their attack. And for there I put the rider on 78-80 to keep up with the other riders but not getting to far ahead. I rarely use the relay bottom, even though it ticks off the other breakaway riders. I just sit it the back and regain energy. And depending on the stage and the gap back to the peleton use the left over enegy to attack 20-30km from the finish. And the rest is luck, really. Hope that helps. I have 4-5 breakaway wins so far playing PCM10.

I've had a couple of really good breakway wins (or near wins) in my current career and I've only just got to the end of Feb.
Playing as Vacansoleil in one stage race that was 4 flat stages with teh final stage geared towards the climbers/hill specialists Brice Feillu fell on stage 4 and finished well behind the pack (about 6 minutes down) as I couldn't get him back in touch with the peloton.
On the 5th stage I decided to send Brice out on a breakway, mainly to protect the KoM jersey for his team mate, but also just in case he could take the stage win.
The breakway reached the first mountain climb and I attacked with Brice again, he flew over the top of the first climb and rather than pull him up, I let him go out on his solo attack.
He pulled out to nearly 10 minutes ahead fo the peloton but had been all alone from about 30km fromt he start. With such a deficit to the main riders he was allowed to stay in front and ended up winning the stage by 3 minutes.
Obviously because he was down by 6 minutes heading into the final stage he was allowed to breakway, but it was really good to see the AI let him go but pull enough of the break back to ensure that someone in the main apck won the General Classification.
Another breakaway I sent a young, very poor rider into a breakaway with 3 others. This was after only 1 flat stage (bunch sprint) so no one had lost time. This breakaway got a 17minute lead before the peoloton decided to chase. By this stage it was too late and the 4 riders battled it out for the stage win and won by about 4 minutes. Going back over the race it seemed that no team in the peloton wanted to lead (maybe they expected me to do it ) until it was way too late.
So after my LOOONG post I see two general strategies for breakway wins.
1. Win your rider is completely out of the GC he can go alone
2. When your rider (and others he attacks with) are not considered a threat to the GC they may just sneak enough of a break to get a win
One of the best palces I find for creating a good gap is to attack just before a descent, get a some speed up as you hit the top of the climb and fly down the other side (still attacking).

Yes, that is how i do it when there is a climb and a decent before the finish. Attacking downhill costs less.
But i do wonder what you do in the attack group. Do you relay? and on what %
I do always relay and at the start of the stage mostly 50% and then i raise it later on to 70 or 80. (not relaying is unrealistic and therefor no option to me) |

Typically I do relay, yes. Not often I'll just suck the life out of someone's back wheel while I'm in a breakaway, unless the other riders are signifciantly stronger and a threat to my main GC riders.
If the peoloton is relaying at about 50-55 effort I relay my breakaway guys at 55-60 effort once they have established the breakaway (you don't want to lose all of your green bar).
You want to use an effort whereby your rider and others in the breakaway share the load nearly evenly. And if other riders aren't relaying (I had this last night, where two riders kept sucking my wheel) you're either relaying at too high of an effort or you should just attack and elave them behind. |

The i have an other question,
When i have the leaders Jersey i want to take my responsibility and let a number (say 3) riders relay on 30% and later 50%. I notice that when i do that the chance the a breakaway works rises. It's as if the sprinters think i will close the gap and when they notice i won't they are to late. |

Now in PCM10 it is bit different. I ve played a tour stage where i attacked after Sanchez and then again on the way down. after taking a few seconds first sanches caught me again a bit later and took the lead. i felt this had a lot to do with the difference in downhill ability. |

What do you mean "in his wheel"? Sprint follow, or counter attack? I find alot of the time when a guy attacks that i am not allowed to counter it, the icon is greyed out?
So does the 2nd guy in the train sprint follow, then the sprinter sprint follows him? |

one guy on the front of the train, and a second (half-sprinter, we will say) with sprint-follow on the first and finally the sprinter with sprint follow on the second guy. when the first guy blows (red bar expires) pick up the second and put him in the dot at 99 and the sprinter behind him ate 95 with the sprint follow. with 2 km to go press the sprint button on that second guy and you will see that the sprinter will explode, then, put the sprinter at 99, choose the sprint type to agressive and press the sprint button and you will see that he'll explode even more. and win it |

I have never been in a sucsessfull breakaway. I have never seen a breakaway go in on PCM10. Its always ca 15 riders attacking and the peleton wont let the riders go. When i get in a breakaway, the pack always starts the chase with over 100 km to go. The brakeaway has then nothing more than 8-9 minutes. The breakaway has no chance to hold in. I play on hard and my team is a "breakaway" team.

Dont waste your choosen breakaway riders energy. Let the breakaway that settels go, then when its got about 2-3 min on the peleton, set 3-4 guys up front and ride until the gap is 1'10. Then attack with your rider. Then when the P is chasing around 100km to go, up your effort to 55-60, and when its 30km to go - Attack and have 70-75 in effort. Has worked for me. I won the Amstel Gold Race and Flece Wallone, with Geslin(FDJ).

I generally control pace of peleton from the off.
I protect my GC rider with 3rd best climber, then depending on whether the road is flat or hilly or mountain i put the flat riders on 65-70 effort for the flat
hilly riders the same, and let my flat riders drop back a bit for protection and the same when its the mountains.
Of course this depends on the stage for which riders do what. I usually find its then only the strongest left for a final climb, then its time to attack attack attack and see whos got what left
As a general rule in the mountains this pays off very well for me |

How do you connect the riders with each other..?
When the first rider is on dot 99% how do attach the second rider to follow him and how do you make sure that your 3th rider which is the sprinter follow the second rider..? |

just select the player you want to follow the other guy, then right cling on the guy that you want to follow and click in the ->S button. |

Which kind of stats is good for the riders.
I think that flat and fighter could be useful for the first rider, the next rider needs to be good in flat acceleration and sprint and my sprinter is easy to guess |
