Looking back in the list of threads in the "Other sports" part of this forum, I noticed that we had a thread for borh the 2008 and 2009 World Championship in ice hockey - so here's one for 2010.
Honestly speaking, I'm usually not very interested in ice hockey - but having seen Denmark beat Finland 4-1 yesterday (in the top 3 of best performances ever by the Danish ice hockey team), I had to brag somewhere, so ... here's the thread |

Well, if you look on rosters of top 7 teams, probably only Russia have something equal to olympics. So i think there will be many suprising scores. And i think Denmark could probably be in top 8. |

I saw the photos of Germany vs USA in Veltins Arena : that must've really been a marvelous show.
And I like the poll on official website :
SHOULD AN OPENING GAME IN A FOOTBALL STADIUM BECOME AN ANNUAL TRADITION? Yes, it was a great event in Gelsenkirchen No, you can barely see the puck

Yep, it's pretty amazing.
I have trouble believing that they'll be able to hang on to this, but it'd be extremely amazing if they managed to win. |

I guess they did - that's the problem with the WC. Still doesn't change the fact that Denmark were huge underdogs. |

Even Germany won against the USA, I think it's more an E team as just Jack Johnson is a really good player, but even that team is better then Germanys team as icehockey has the same status in germany as elephant polo

Norway is the best in everything. Unless someone beat them.
Edit: And Norway rarely wins...

USA sent a C team if thats possible. About 7 people on the team played the whole year on a college team. Of course these are very good college players and they want them to get a chance to play at an Interantional event like this. So to answer the questino bluntly yes they did bring their "B' team.
Also Team Canada's Captain Ryan Smyth is out the rest of the tournament with an ankle injury.

Denmark seems unstopable. 6 - 0 vs Slovakia after 1st period.

That's great for you. Now you should play against Switzerland in QF - really better opponent than Canada or Sweden.
Czech Republic needs now to beat Canada or we are go home tomorrow.

Hopefully they won't, because if Canada win, Norway will sensationally be through to the Quarterfinals
I'm really glad I started to watch ice hockey at the Olympics, it's pretty entertaining |

Czech Republic beats Sweden in a Shootout to advance to the Gold Medal game. They scored with 8 seconds left in regulation to tie it up also. It was a very exciting game. Now I hope Germany cna beat Russia to make it an underdog Final.
