I Think it will be hard to. Get white letters on a white shirt. Is it ok with just red?

Some quick things you have to remember so it looks better, because as know it's not impressive (sry):
Don't put a border on avatars.
Remember to hold shift down while you resize, if you use Photoshop.
Try to put small effects on so it's not just a plain picture with text i't could be like these small details:  (the squares and dots). It gives something for the eye, and a simple text wich doesn't take to much focus.

Round brushes at different small sizes. And the squares i get with making a layer and the make a square with marque tool and then fill it with a colour, make some different sizes of them |
