La Tropicale Amissa Bongo Discussion
SportingNonsense
This African stage race will be a nice season opener for many riders, with stages averaging at around 100km, on a mostly flat route. How important the hilly rated Stage 4 will be, only time will tell - a dominant sprinter could quite easily gather enough time bonuses to counter any attacks there,

Sprinters vs the hills!

Should be quite nicely poised. I would imagine the Cillit Bang boys will be fuming after the Bloemfontain Classic!

I am guessing this race will depend on whether a sprinter can get enough bonifications to hold of the likes of Hermans or Bellis on that stage 3-

Top 5 predo:
1 Hermans (Wiggle)
2 Bellis (Cillit Bang)
3 Kennaugh (100% Me)
4 Richeze (UBS)
5 Croket (Petronas)

GL to ppl in this one will be following moral support to Pokerstars, Bacardi and Telenor as fellow new teams!

I hope for a stage win for Croket, and hopefully Gerrans can a good effort in the hilly stage and score some points.

With 4 flat short stages, Nazon might actually be able to win a stage, besides him i hope for Gajek on the flat aswell and a result of El Fares in stage 3, although i don't think he will do much against pretty high competition.

I put my hopes up for some nice results from Sabatini and/or Siedler. And maybe a some luck by Klier or Bøchman.

I'm hoping Pasamontes can put us in the top 10. Hoping more for stage wins.

I don't think the hilly stage will have any effect whatsoever...

Good job by EL AL getting in the breaks during stage 1. I don't have a sprinter, so no surprise with the non-result there.

I also don't have a sprinter, and so for Bertagnolli (or the "Old Man" as SN kindly called him t'other day) to come 5th, I'm very happy!

EDIT: Although SN has now called Nocentini as the proper "Old Man", as Bertagnolli is just his side kick.

Lies, I called Nocentini Old, not Bertagnolli! Bertagnolli was meant to be just a bit useless this year, after finishing 119th in Bloemfontein. Pfft

Edit: And yes Bertagnolli is always doomed to be the sidekick of Nocentini

Cillit Bang strikes back perhaps? Great result for UBS also after Schmucher's disappointment in opener.

1 KOM point - that´s all what my riders showed today...I´m not optimistic about upcoming stages

Hmmm, Gajek is really dissappointing so far. Really really happy with Bagdonas taking all intermediates and has equal points in KoM. Passeron in 12th, not bad. I should have brought Smukulis to lead.

Why do you think Gajek never made it into the current Wiggle squad? Pfft He was rubbish back in 2009, and still rubbish in 2011 Grin
