I don't quite understand the title "band with cycling", but, following on what other's have said:

My Dad's family comes from Ed Clancy's home town.
I've raced against Edvald Boasson Hagen, Peter Kennaugh, Ben Swift, Andrew Fenn, Jeremy Hunt, Jonathon Tiernan-Locke, Julien Winn (2002 Nat Champ) and others.
I've trained with the British 2006 National RR Champion, Hamish Haynes.
I'm close friends with a multiple National Cycle Speedway Champion.

I went to school with Jakob Fuglsang (Still a good friend of mine), I've spoken with Chris Anker quite some times (He lives nearby), I have a couple of shared friends with Lars Bak (Also from my town), and I got Nicki Sørensens waterbottle from the Tour de France, at a mountain stage Smile

I have spoken to Carlos Sastre and Ivan Basso when they rode a circuit race in my town, and I've raced a couple of "for the fun of it" races, where I was in the pack with Michael Sandstød, Michael Blaudzun, Bjarne Riis, Michael Reihs, Julian Dean and a couple of other helpers. Grabsch I think was there too...

I also have a paper with the signatures of all T-Mobile riders that were in the Tour of Algarve in 2006 I think.

@rjc Ed Clancy's home town is Tetbury isn't it? That's a few miles from where I live.

Well, there's pretty much nothing I can say Sad

I know 3 pro riders quite well and am acquainted with a 4th.

That's it. My family is in no way into cycling.

My coach has more than 250 career wins and a Bronze Medal from the 1993 World Road Championships were she finished 4 seconds behind Longo and van Moorsel.

My old Juniors team has put riders onto teams like Garmin and BMC and more recently Cal Giant.

on sunday I raced up an 11 mile climb with Westley Gough who recieved a bronze medal for New Zealand at the Beijing Olympics for the Team Pursuit.

I have ridden with Levi Leipheimer mutiple times, and his wife who is also an accomplished ex-pro. Also Scott Nydam, Steve Cozza, Nathan Miller, a ton of guys from Cal Giant, most of the Bissell riders from the past 2 years, most of BMC from the past 3 years, a couple of the guys from the new Yahoo team, A couple Kelly Benefits riders, Chad Gerlach, Rahsaan Bahati, a couple of the U23 Trek Livestrong riders, Lucas Euser, etc etc.

Nothern California is one of the most vibrant cycling communities in the US.

2 of my old teammates are off to Europe in may with the National team and one just got back after placing 13th after crashing out of the 2nd group in the Juniors Pari-Roubaix.

theres more but I am lazy

Wow Levi that must have been awesome!

I just one day decided to watch the Tour and have loved it since. Cycling is not a very popular sport here in Canada at all. Most of our riders are from a MTB bike background switching over to Road at the right age.

I assume you mean my bond to cycling with that title.

The way I got into the sport is that my dad starting commuting to work by bike in 2004, and got into the tour and Lance as well that year. I started watching with him, and by 2006 was a true cycling fan (I distinctly remember having a conversation pre-Puerto with him about the 2006 Tour in which I said it would be great not having a sure Lance victory because it would make the race more interesting, whereas he stopped caring because Lance was gone). I've kept up with it got a job at a bike shop, and started racing myself last year.

I don't really have that much of a band with Cycling. I got into it watching the Tour de France because of my Dad always having it on when i was younger. My earliest memory being Chris Boardman crashing in the Prologue all those years ago. Since then Eurosport helped to increase my awarness of the other events, first came the Giro and then the Classics/World championships.
I've been to watch the Giro and Le Tour twice each and also The Amstel Gold Race and the Tour of Britain.
I've got various memorabilia, from landis's bottle on Alp d'huez to A 50km to go sign post with as many riders as i could find signatures on.
I've also met Wiggins and Cavendish at the Kronplatz stage of the Giro a few years ago. Bradley is a really nice guy Grin Cav, not so much

I got into cycling when I was about 14, after seeing the Tour De France on TV. I was mesmerised by the colour, by the way the peleton moved, by the tactics.

I started riding my bike and joined a local club (England). I mainly started off doing 10mile TTs, then 25mile TTs. Then I got into a club that was more into Road Racing.

The local chain gang i rode with included Chris Newton (GB Track). I raced him a few times too. Always thought he would go pro, but I guess he loved the track more than that.

As an 18yr old I raced against Charly Wegelius. He was immense! It was a hilly circuit in Oxenhope. About 7 miles per ciruit and the race went round it about 6 times.

There was one climb which was maybe 1 mile long, and very steep. With 3 laps of the circuit remaining, Wegelius blasted off the front of the bunch on the climb. No one could touch him. I mean I thougt I was good on climbs, cos I weighed like 56kg, but he was off in the distance before I could blink. No one could go with him.

We never saw him again. At the end of the race the organiser told me that Wegelius had broke the lap record. Twice. I knew that day that he would be a pro. And I also knew that I wouldn't Wink
