Personal Biography
_______________________________________________________________________
As many of you know I ride for the pro american team Garmin- Transitions.
I was born on December 9th 1980 in Victoria, British Colombia ,Canada.[img-r]https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/9/94/Ryder_Hesjedal.jpg/220px-Ryder_Hesjedal.jpg[/img-r]I started my career as a mountain biker where I won a silver medal in the 2001 Under 23 World Championships. I then rode for the Rabobank Conti team before signing my first pro contract in 2005 with Discovery Channel. In my first year of professional road cycling I rode my first grand tour because of my climbing and timetrialing abilities. I rode in the Giro to support Savoldelli. I never finished though but I learned a lot. In 06 I signed with Phonak and had some better results and then in 07 I signed with HealthNet the Conti team. In 2008 I joined the new team Slipstream Chipotle. I rode the TDF that year and helped Christian (VandeVelde) to a 5th GC finish. Last season with GArmin I won a Vuelta stage. That was one of my biggest victories. I am the only canadian to ever win a Vuelta stage. LAter that summer I got picked to be the Canadian Cyclist of the decade and Male cyclist of the year. Those meant a lot to me.
But enough about me here is the rest of my team for this season on Garmin Transitions.
My stats.

Thank you that means lots.

I was off to the team training camp and photo shoot in Calpe,Spain. Here's a quick shot that one of the team photographers got.
Race Schedule for January
N/A
I wont be riding any races this month. I am on the TDU fallback roster. But the only way i'd be racing in Australia would be if someone who is signed up for the TDU gets injured or sick. Just because Ihave no races doesn't mean I get the month off though. I will be riding my @$$ off for the last 2 weeks to get in shape for February. I will be staying in Spain to shop. I'll be hanging out in the Team HQ in Girona and of course doing a bit of testing.

Garmin Blog
At the end of January we usually have a news article on who the best rider for garmin was that month. We'll start things off then!
Best Rider for Garmin
Robbie Hunter got Garmin 2 wins in the TDU so he gets the best rider award for January. It was unanimous. He also got 10 ProTour Points for us in the process.
Best -25 Rider for Garmin
Our best under 25 rider in January was Michael Friedman. He won that TTT in Doha and also got some results on the Garmin Track Cycling Team so he gets it for this month.
From all of us at Garmin Blog we hope to write about even more victories in the future this season. Bye for Now.

Etoile de Bessges Stage 1
Today isn't my kind of race so I will be sitting in the peloton trying not to crash.
Here I am sitting in the main group.
Heres our guys working hard to bring back the break so Hunter can get a sprint win for the team. Will and Friedman do all the work.
Well the sprint begins and Meyer is in front. I just sat back and watched it all unfold.
Heres Robbie in the lead with half a km to go. He's a beast.
Well he wins. Kinda a weak field though so ntot that hard.

Etoile de Besseges Stage 2
Well Hunter was a beast yesterday and today's profile looks similar so maybe he can grab another win for us Garmin boys.
Hunter grabs the wheel of Casper. I just sat back and watched like yesterday. Me and my roomate Will just worked hard for a few km's and then sat back and made sure to finish in the main group.
Dean also grabs a wheel. He looks like he's in better position for the sprint.
The sprint starts and Dean is for sure in a better position. MAybe he'll get the win today if anyone from Garmin gets it.
500 metres to go and Hunter is still behind a few guys, but he's moving up fast!
Amazing what a sprint by Robbie. If someone had any doubts about who the strongest sprinter in the field is they can be certain its Hunter now! Amazing sprint and good work by the boys to bring back the break. Tommorow looks like my kind of day so maybe I'll be talking about myself tommorow.
