Alonso's still considering starting a cycling team:
He is also stimulated by his outside interest in creating a new Tour de France team with his friend Alberto Contador, who won the race in 2007 and 2009. "It's a project for me – a kind of dream I have because I love cycling. Creating a top team and being in a position to win the Tour de France will give me a nice feeling. But I know it is not easy to create a top team from zero. You need good riders, good staff, a lot of preparation and, most important, a lot of sponsors. So I don't think we are in the right moment to start a project like this, because of the world economy."
Would he wait until he has retired from Formula One before he attempts to fulfil his Tour fantasy? "No, it can happen at the same time. It is something Alberto and I can work on. As I said I'm very open. I know this year he is with Astana but from next year onwards, for sure, if there is an opportunity I will be very interested. I think he will be interested as well."
(Okay, okay, it's a few days old, but... )

Apparently, Thomas Lövkvist is now calling himself Thomas Löfkvist.
In fact, his name has always been Löfkvist (in his passport and other official documents), but his family has been using the Lövkvist variant. |

bollocks - armstrong would never do anything except for personal gain. and i don't believe that sastre is any better on the flat than contador

Well, Boonen can be quite unpleasant too.

I think Ruben mentioned that before, but it was probably not in the news thread. It's funny, because I first saw the Löfkvist spelling on the Team Sky website and hoped for their sake they hadn't embarassingly spelt his name wrong, but then it started to appear everywhere without explanation (although now we have one). |

Dekker has received his suspension - he'll be back on the 1st of July 2011.
Herald Sun Tour will move from October to February in the 2011 season. |

I suppose there will be no Herald Sun Tour in 2010 then? |

Oh dear - complaining about getting a 2 year ban when you have tested positive for doping?
That's sick.
(Don't forget that Dekker admits that he has used doping, so it's not one of the cases where the rider denies everything...) |

Yeah and comparing it with other riders and different cases again, even expecting to ride at the end of the year (in the dutch article).
He doesn't realise anything.
Let's hope he crashes into a ravine. Seriously.
I haven't heard 1 word from him personally since the day he was caught. Says enough about the person he really is. |

There's barely any difference. He says he only took it once and never during a race.
As if that makes ANY sense at all.
To me he's no different to the others. Anyone with even a cursory knowledge of how a blood doping program works knows that if you dope in the off-season, then it's blatantly obvious it wasn't your only time. You're doping to have blood extracted and to increase natural production long-term.
Not to mention that injecting yourself with EPO one single time will have about as much of an effect as eating candy. You need to reinject every once in a while, to make it a cumulative effect. And if you stop, within two weeks it's all gone.
Wanna bet his next (very dumb, illogical) excuse is going to be "I only took it once so I could train harder"? It's easy to shoot that down with facts as well (in short: it won't work), but he's dumb enough to try it next.
And does he seriously not understand why Riccò got 4 months less? Is he that dense? Riccò named names. Dekker didn't name anyone.
As we say around here: does he want the explanation drawn to him in the form of a picture?
The others are jackasses. He's a dumb, dumb jackass. So yeah, I guess he is different after all.
