Hello and welcome to my first ever story, and the team is:
Squad:
Edvald Boasson Hagen Leader
Lars Petter Nordhaug
Svein Erik Vold
Alexander Kristoff
Sten Stenersen,
Stian Sommerseth
Joachim Bøhler
Gabriel Rasch
Fredrik Wilman
It's a small continental team consisting of nine young talented Norwegian riders. Where E. Hagen is the natural leader because of his allround abillities and immense talent.
However the rest of the teammates pretty much have a free role as our goal as a team is to be as aggressive as possible, putting at least one rider in every serious breakaway.
Season goals:
Win Norwegian Championships
Finish within Top 3 in Ringerike GP and Tour de l'Avenir
Stage wins in Ringerike GP and Tour de l'Avenir
There will be no racing in January, our first race will be Etoile de Bessèges in February.
At the moment our riders are gathered in Southern France for the winter training camp.

*** Breaking News ***
Team Maxbo Bianchi has announced the signings of two foreign riders, Jukka Vastaranta, a young Finnish national and Florentino Marquez a young Spanish national.
The team manager had this to say about the signings:
"The addition of Vastaranta and Marquez will help us compete in a couple of more races as our squad is very slim. Although we mainly want to sign Scandinavian riders, Marquez is such a great talent we just could not let him slip past us. He's already a pretty good climber and will become even better in the future.
Vastaranta is a puncher and is very similar to our team leader E. Boasson.
The signings of Vastaranta and Marquez will also help ease the pressure on Boasson."

Very much like the start, lets hope Boasson Hagen can live up to his potential.
btw , if you were to shorten his name it would be E. Hagen instead of E. Boasson

Etoile de Bessèges
Squad:
Edvald Boasson Hagen
Jukka Vastaranta
Florentino Marquez
Lars Petter Nordhaug
Svein Erik Vold
Sten Stenersen
Gabriel Rasch
Fredrik Wilman
Stage 1
This stage is a flat stage perfect for the sprinters, with strong teams like FDJeux, Credit Agricole, T-Mobile, Cofidis and AG2r present we don't expect to be able to do much in this race. However we will be aggressive and attack, hopefully at least one breakaway will go in. This stage will probably be a mass sprint with Cavendish, Ciolek and Mondory lining up against each other.
** The replay screwed up on this stage, so no photos... ***
The stage wasn't very eventful, an early break with nine riders rode away but never had more than a couple of minutes, we had Vastaranta in the break but they were caught at the finish and Hans Dekkers of Agritubel won a surprising victory ahead of T-Mobiles André Korff, the last rider from the breakaway that was caught.
Cavendish is clearly out of shape ending at a disappointing 7th spot ahead of Team Maxbo Bianchi's Jukka Vastaranta.

Stage 2
Another flat stage for the sprinters. However as the breakaway nearly went all the way yesterday we will use all of our force to create a breakaway. If we are lucky, it could go all the way and we could capture both a stage win and perhaps the yellow jersey. It would be a great victory for a small team like Team Maxbo Bianchi.
Hans Dekker in his yellow jersey at the left, our own Vastaranta is wearing the white youth jersey further back in the peloton.
After a few kilometres Vold attacks with Boasson Hagen on his wheel in an effort to create a strong breakaway. The pack is however not willing to let Boasson Hagen go and he is quickly caught.
Instantly as the pack catches up with Hagen and Vold, Fredrik Wilman attacks. Team Maxbo Bianchi is really determined to make today's breakaway it seems.
A nine man breakaway is formed and surprise surprise, Team Maxbo Bianchi got their man in it, Wilman.
Agritubel and the sprinter teams controls the breakaway and with 10 kilometres left it has only 40 seconds on the pack. It looks as the stage will be decided with a mass sprint.
Lightning strikes as another Team Maxbo Bianchi rider attacks at the 9 km mark, who is it? No other than E. Hagen.
He gets a small gap to the pack and catches up the chaotic remains of the breakaway, but the pack is chasing close behind as Hagen has only 3 km left to the finish.
T-Mobile gives Cavendish a perfect lead out and he easily disposes of any competition, catching up with young Boasson Hagen and leaving him behind in the dust.
Cavendish is the winner today and captures the yellow jersey. The risky maneuver of Boasson Hagen does however pay off and he gets a surprising second place and is now 5th in the GC.

Nice start - what difficulty setting and DB are you playing with?
Always like Maxbo Bianchi, I was half considering choosing them for my story

Etoile de Bességes,
Stage 3:
Yet another stage for the sprinters, it has some slopes but they are too far from the finish and to present any difficulty to the sprinters. Some soldiers of fortune might however go in a break to get points in the KOM-jersey competition and perhaps a stage win if they are really lucky.
Mark Cavendish silenced any critics and confirmed that his form is on the right way with his win on yesterday's stage where he also captured the point jersey and the leader's jersey. With Boasson Hagen at 5th in the GC, he will sit tight in the peloton hoping to maintain his strong GC position while some of our other riders will try to make the break.
The tempo at the start of the race is not punishing, a group of 7 riders attack after a few kilometres and T-Mobile controling the peloton lets them go as they consider them no threat.
Team Maxbo Bianchi is obviously unhappy having missed the breakaway and Marquez counters Serov and Balcuinas when they make an effort close the gap and join the breakaway.
Wilman quickly joins Balcuinas and Marquez whom are left behind by Serov in an effort to help Marquez up to the breakaway.
Cavendish sits comfortably in the peloton with his yellow leader's jersey while his team controls the peloton.
As the road starts to rise Marquez and Wilman quickly catch up with the breakaway leaving Balcuinas behind. It's now a 9 man breakaway.
Team Maxbo Bianchi quickly realizes Marquez is in a good position to take up the fight with Auber 93's Mederel in the competition for the mountain jersey and ups the tempo on the last slope, leaving Mederel behind and splitting the breakaway.
Marquez is now only 2 points behind Mederel.
70kms from the finish Da Cruz, Thijs and a couple of other riders attacks and makes it across to the breakaway, now a 13 man breakaway in total chaos as it's too big and riders refuse to cooperate.
The breakaway is caught by the T-Mobile train about 20kms from the finish.
It looks like a sure mass sprint as the sprinter teams control the peloton.
7,5 kms left and a lone rider attacks with determination. It's a Team Maxbo Bianchi Rider, can it be, yes it is Boasson Hagen who tests his fortune again as the race is close to the finish line.
He gets 15 seconds while the pack is sprinting like for their lives, this could be a huge upset if a rider from a small continental team steals a victory from the ProTour teams.
None of the sprinters can catch up with Hagen and he takes an amazing victory! He also captures the leader's jersey and points jersey from Cavendish in addition to the white youth jersey.
Cavendish doesn't seem to be in top shape and ends up at a disappointing 7th spot after his strong victory yesterday.
Team Maxbo Bianchi amazingly holds 3/4 jerseys after 3 stages of Etoile de Bességes.

Etoile de Bességes,
Stage 4
Today's stage is a lot of up and down and if the pace is high the sprinters will be off the peloton early. There are several strong riders who could win this stage, Ignatiev, Brutt and Marzoli to mention some of the Tinkoff riders. Boasson Hagen doesn't have more than 30 seconds down to these guys, so if he has to give a gap it could quickly become a gap larger than 30 seconds and he would lose our yellow jersey.
Boasson Hagen is ranked as one of the favourites on this stage, but it will probably be a bunch sprint with a small peloton and he isn't the fastest sprinter of the favourites.
Our goal today is to defend the leader's jersey and have Marquez go in an early break to capture the mountain jersey from Mederél.
Team Maxbo Bianchi controling the peloton early while E. Hagen sits comfortably behind with his yellow jersey, can he defend it on this crucial stage?
Marquez launches an early attack at the first slope in his hunt for the mountain jersey. A few riders counter him and they form a small breakaway group.
Marquez captures the mountain jersey by taking the first four mountain sprints before the breakaway group is caught by a chasing peloton which is becoming smaller and smaller by the minute.
A new breakaway group is formed 40kms from the finish, among them one of the dangerous favourites, Pavel Brutt. They a minute on the pack and while the pack seems to be going real fast they aren't closing in on the breakaway group. Boasson Hagen might lose his jersey now.
As the pack doesn't seem to be able to catch up with the breakaway E. Hagen takes matters into his own hands and attacks 1 km from the top of the last hill and catches up with Brutt and his companions. However he has no time to lose as the pack has really awakened after the stunning attack from the yellow jersey and devides to attack once again, leaving Brutt's breakaway group behind with only 7kms to the finish!
The mad sprint has started but it seems nobody can catch the yellow jersey!
Boasson Hagen takes an impressing victory and secures his yellow jersey barring accidents on tomorrows stage.
There are only 26 bonus seconds on tomorrows stage and E. Hagen now has 32 seconds to the 2nd place. An amazing victory for Team Maxbo Bianchi, which now holds all the jersey's in Etoile de Bességes.

yes Etoile de Bességes has exceeded my expectations, I didn't think it was possible to win with so many strong teams there, but now it looks as though all the jerseys are in the bag. Just have to ride the last stage, if we can keep the peloton together Boasson Hagen will win!
Next month we will ride two croatian races! |

Etoile de Bességes,
Stage 5
A few tops on this stage but nothing that will trouble the sprinters. Our goal today is to keep the peloton together and wait for a mass sprint at the finish. Marquez has already secured the mountain jersey.
It has been an uneventfull day so far, Team Maxbo Bianchi is controling a quiet bunch.
At the bottom of the first slope Marquez attacks to take the mountain sprint even though he has already secured it. He is probably just showing his jersey on a stage that so far only has been a parade with Team Maxbo Bianchi holding all the jerseys.
A breakaway is caught near the finish and it ends in a mass sprint won by Landagnous ahead of Bonnet and Dekkers.
Edvald Boasson Hagen wins the yellow jersey, the points jersey and the youth jersey while Florentino Marquez wins the mountain jersey! What a race for Team Maxbo Bianchi.

Trofej Porec
I forgot to save the replay in all my enthusiasm so there will only be the results, it was an exciting race with E. Hagen and Sobal of Cinelli attacking on the last hill and they could not be caught. E. Hagen tried to get rid of Sobal by attacking 7 km before the finish but was unable to do so and Sobal easily disposed of him in the sprint leaving him to a disappointing 2nd place as E. Hagen was the favourite for this race.
Gabriel Rasch raced very good and ended up at 5th place, the whole team is very happy on his behalf!

Jadranska Magistrala - Istrian Spring Trophy,
Prologue
The prologue was only 9 km and Fredrik Wilman took an easy victory, being one of the best time trialists in the race, Boasson Hagen impressed on this time trial and was 3rd, only 3 seconds behind Wilman.
Lars Petter Nordhaug had a strong showing and finished 11th, 7 seconds behind Wilman. We are very happy about opening the Istrian Spring Trophy strong as it is one of the most important races for us.

Jadranska Magistrala - Istrian Spring Trophy,
Stage 2: Porec - Labin
This will be a hard stage with a lot of hills, the peloton will probably be very small when we roll down the last downhill. We are however very confident we will have some guys present in the peloton as it gets close to the finish.
We will try to defend the jersey but Wilman will probably not survive the hills, but who knows, the yellow jersey makes you ride like two men.
So with the favourites watching each other instead of attacking Lars Petter Nordhaug takes his chance and breaks clear with another rider joining him in a two man break, the peloton is not yet concerned by two riders looking for a lucky break.
Joachim Bøhler and a few other riders is trying to bridge across to the two lone riders 6 minutes ahead of the peloton.
Bøhler's inspired chase does however not succeed as they are caught by the peloton again by the third climb.
While Lars Petter Nordhaug is trying to be the first out of the Istrian Hills, they are met by hordes of croatian cycling fans. Nordhaug is building his confidence, can he make it all the way?
Nordhaug is caught at the last climb and doesn't make it out of the Istrian hills, the peloton is rather slim now, only 31 riders, E. Hagen, J. Vastaranta and F. Marquez from Team Maxbo Bianchi are present! This is going to be a thriller.
After the last descent the finish is fast approaching.
As Boasson is only 1 second behind Yauhen Sobal, and with Fredrik Wilman off the peloton a long time ago, Maxbo Bianchi decides to go for the 6 bonus seconds at the last intermediate sprint about 15 kms from the finish!
Vastaranta and Boasson manages to create a gap after the sprint and gets company by four other riders! The desperation is obvious in the peloton as several of the favourites are left behind by this exciting attack!
Unfortunatly for two of the riders in the 6 man break, only 6 kms from the finish, a dog gets into the circuit and gets overrun by these two unfortunates!
With the fourth rider left behind by these three, the victory will be decided among three rider! Among them two Maxbo Bianchi riders! E. Hagen and J. Vastaranta
Vastaranta gives E. Hagen a perfect leadout and he wins ahead of E. Boasson and Tobias Erler of Team 3C - Gruppe Lamonta!
A perfect start. Boasson Hagen claims the leader's jersey.

Are you sure you're playing hard? Have you edited the DB?
If not, you are a very good manager

the last stage there was pure luck, the gap created wasn't on purpose
I was going for the intermediate sprint and suddenly a group of 6 riders had 40 seconds with like 7 km left to the finish, so I rode them on 90% and the peloton was chasing but it suddenly slowed down because nobody wanted to pull, so we escaped
and then one third of the group fell
but yes it's hard and unedited ppdb v3... |
