Welcome to the thread for the Israeli Continental Team, EL AL - IDF Cycling. The team is rebooting again, after one-and-a-half seasons as the Ernst and Young - Presented by NBC News and Apple Computers team.
As of this time, the team cannot confirm who will remain from the old team, or any targets in the upcoming off-season.
However, we can present our team shirt, created by Turin:
More information to come...

EL AL Bulletin #2 - The Transfer Season
With a lot of the transfer season finished, EL AL can report that we have accomplished a lot of our goals. We have hired ten Israeli riders, and have hired a number of riders who we feel will be able to achieve good results for us and help us accomplish our goals. These riders include Sylvain Chavanel, Sylvain Calzati, Brice Feillu, and Ignatas Konovalovas.
The team can also announce that the following riders have left the team:
David O'Loughlin
Christian Vandevelde
Our transfer season is not finished however, as we still have at least one Free Agent deal pending, and other possible deals in the works.
A full team presentation will occur after the conclusion of the transfer season.

EL AL Bulletin #3 - The Transfer Season Part II
EL AL is pleased to announce that in addition to the before mentioned riders, we have signed Sergei Lagutin and have acquired Romain Sicard on loan from Credit Lyonnais. We can also announce that our two South Africans, Perry and Kannemeyer, have left the team, both to Pirelli-Inter. At the moment we believe that we have our finalized roster, however we are still open to moves, both in and out of the team.
At the conclusion of the transfer season we will announce all of our cyclists in and out, and will then give a team presentation as the racing season gets closer.

Very interesting team. I like how you've signed the best Israeli riders, along side with some very strong French riders...

Yeah, I've got all of them.
Also, in addition to the Frenchies, Konovalovas is good on the hills and can do a solid TT, good for a top 5 in a CT race where those are the necessary skills, plus Doi and Lagutin could be dangerous in breakaways. |

EL AL - IDF Cycling Team Presentation
With the Transfer Season finished, EL AL - IDF Cycling is proud to present our roster for the 2011 season. We have twenty-five riders, including ten Israelis, four Frenchmen, three Americans, two Japanese, two Swiss, two Canadians, a Lithuanian, and an Uzbek.
We will be presenting our team in a number of installments, beginning with our leaders. For 2011, our team leaders are:
Saul Raisin
Raisin returns from the 2010 Ernst and Young team, a strong climber and capable of a solid time-trial, we are expecting some good top 10 results from him this year, and hope he can gain a podium finish in at least one stage race.
Sylvain Calzati
Joining from BMC (now Mercedes-Benz), the Frenchman combines strong climbing ability, both in the mountains and in the hills, with a good punch at the finish line. Despite his lack of TT skill, we feel he will also be a strong contender for both top 5's and 10's in CT stage races and stage wins.
Sylvain Chavanel
Another Frenchman, joining from British Airways after a stint in the ProTour, is Sylvain Chavanel. Chavanel is similarly skilled as Calzati, however with the added bonus of a strong TT. Again, he will be dangerous for top 5's and top 10's in CT stage races, along with for stage wins.

EL AL - IDF Cycling Team Presentation Part II
Joining our leaders in the pursuit of CT points will be the following protected riders:
Brice Feillu
Another Frenchman joins our team, this one from Free Agency, in young Brice Feillu. A strong climber, with a solid ability on the hills, Brice might lack the overall strength to challenge for CT stage races, but he is certainly strong enough to pull off good results in mountainous stages.
Romain Sicard
Our last Frenchman, joining on loan from Mercedes-Benz, is Romain Sicard, the young Basque rider is solid in all aspects of stage racing, from the mountains to the hills to the TT's. We expect him to improve with training and experience, and look forward to seeing what he can do this year to help us advance to our goal of the ProTour.
Ignatas Konovalovas
Another rider joining from Free Agency is Ignatas Konovalovas. The Lithuanian lacks strength in the high mountains, but is very strong on the hills and is the team's strongest TT'er. We expect him to be able to get us some strong results both in stages and in the overall, especially in races where the climbs stay small.
Gregory Rast
Our last protected rider returns from the 2010 Ernst and Young team, where he snagged one of the team's two stage wins. Rast's main strength in in the hills, where he will be a dangerous complement to the team's leaders. He also is decently talented on the cobblestones, however as the rest of the team lacks in that department he will most likely will not see any action there this year.

EL AL - IDF Cycling Team Presentation Part III
Now we move past the riders we expect will be gaining most of our points and into the riders who will be supporting them. First, our non-Israeli domestiques:
David Loosli
Joining EL AL on transfer from Nespresso is the Swiss rider David Loosli. A strong climber, Loosli will be called upon to support our team leaders as a super-domestique.
Mike Friedman
Also joining on transfer, this time from Mercedes-Benz, is Mike "the Meatball" Friedman. The Meatball is our team's strongest sprinter, although he lacks a kick strong enough to truly fight for bunch sprints. We hope to see him try to get involved in some breakaways, and maybe pull out a surprise here and there in group finishes.
Rahsaan Bahati
Returning from the Ernst and Young team, Rahsaan also has a strong finishing kick. We hope to see him feature and breakaways and try his best at group finishes when he can get involved.
Kazuo Inoue
Also returning from Ernst and Young is Japanese domestique Kazuo Inoue. Kazuo also has a decent sprint, and as with the Meatball and Rahsaan, we hope to see him try to get involved in breakaways along with helping out in the pack.
Yukihiro Doi
Coming over on transfer from Carmeuse Cyclisme, Doi is a strong climber, whose main focus will be to support the team leaders on the climbs, both in protection and in chase roles.
Sergei Lagutin
From Free Agency comes Sergei Lagutin, and the Uzbek will be at his best in the TT's. We are hoping to see some good individual results from him, along with strong showings in any TTT's we might face and in breakaways.
Dominique Rollin
One of our two returning Canadians, Rollin combines a solid TT with a good finishing kick. He will mainly feature the way he did last year, by being a consistent presence for us in the breakaways.
Charles Dionne
Our other returning Canadian is Charles Dionne, another rider capable of riding a solid TT. Other than in the race against the clock, look for him in breakaways and in support roles in the pack.
