This is a summer country over here. The vast majority of people are not aware of the existence of any olympics besides the summer ones and the paralympics.
For me this is Ice Hockey World Cup v2.0
The preceding post is ISSO 9001 certified

Hopefully Ahonen will manage to win a gold medal in of the ski jumping events, the only thing he didn't win in his career. At the start of the season I didn't see him having a chance to do it but after the 4 hills tournament I've changed my mind. So Go Janne!

Over here, everybody is waiting for Kramer to take 3 gold medals - which is not unlikely to happen at all.
For the rest, I'll be happy to watch most sports just being a neutral fan(as long as no dutchies are involved). I do fear though the time difference will ruin most of the live action for me... |

On the subject of Ice Speed Skating. Shani Davis decided to not race the 10.000 meters, since he already rides 4 distances and the 10.000 meters is his 'weakest' distance.
So Eric Heiden's record of 5 golden medals is not going to be broken during the Olympic Games (not that Shani Davis would have broken the record).

This is another summer country over here, and despite that fact, and also despite the fact that barely the 1% of the Spanish population could name you more than a handful of winter sport athletes, we have 2 candidatures for the 2018 or 2022 (I don't remeber which one) Winter Olympics.

I spent every February in Whistler for about 10 years, so excited that they got the Olympics, now I can't go because of uni. Then in 4 months time, South Africa has the world cup during my finals so I can't go there either, it sucks.

I hope, that Lukas Bauer will take podium or even gold on one of these distances: 15, 30 or 50 km. Also interesting for me is Gotwald in Nordic Comb. And of course Hockey, Slovakia with all veterans and USA beats Canada
...oh, and Alpine Skiing - Lizeroux, Ligety and Svindal. Havent watch mogul for years and dont know new names, one man i know is Ronkainen, but dont know is he still participating |

Bode Miller,Hannu Manninen,Janne Ahonen....those guys really deserve to win an olympic gold medal(of course Hannu already won a gold medal but I think he wants one in a individual race)...in cross-country Marit Bjorgen has something to prove after she skip Tour de Ski....in biathlon hope that France will win some medals(Bailly, Fourcade, maybe Defranse again)... |

I've always thought cross should be a Winter Olympic discipline. |

Winter Olympics mean it should be on snow or ice - cyclocross is not. Well, usually it isnt. |

Oh, thats cool.
But then the chance for cross to become an Olympic sport is still very, very small. It simply is not international enough. It's basically Belgium + Stybar. And Stybar can be considered half Belgian too. |
