This is arguably the most important race left in this continental season - its one of 2 remaining HC Stage Races, and this one is 2 stages longer than Missouri. We have some Italians leading the GC battle, in Ginanni, Nocentini and Anza, alongside a top quality sprinters field that includes Freire, Napolitano, Ciolek, Swift and Granjel Cabrera

Make or break time for Vespa.
Team goal is to finish in the top 5, and Ginanni should be capable of that. The team has the potential to do a lot more here though.
I expect crashes.

Casper for stage win, Leukemans maybe for top 5. I think they could do it.

Had high hopes for this one and that still stand for Anza since he should be high in the GC. But it gonna be hard for Granjel Cabrera to win stages.

A worrying start to the race. Napolitano not able to compete in the sprint and Proni - Ginanni's main support in the hills looking as if he has an injury. |

The pre-race injections I've ordered the team doctors to administer are not having the desired effect here. |

Scherlincxx is doing better than Anza. And Granjel Cabrera is nowhere.

Don't understand why Napolitano is performing so poorly in the sprints.
Looks as if the hills are not going to be decisive either in this race.
Top 5 was a sponsor goal - guess sending my best hilly rider and best sprinter to this race was a mistake. Only one stage left to make a difference - but the way the previous hilly stages have gone, looks like it may be time to write this one off. |
