With so many races its been hard to keep up with the rankings, but now here is an update - including races up to and including Portugal, Vattenfalls and Melinda.

Individual

A huge month for Valverde, 3 classic wins and a stage race, and he has become the first rider to cross 1000 pts and takes the lead away from Rein Taaramae. Trofimov still poises a threat in 3rd, ahead of Pedraza, Ignatiev, Ginanni, Henao Montoya, Cornu and Lloret.

Teams

I think it is now safe to say that Sony Ericsson will be promoted as continental champions, as they cross 4000 pts and approach an 800 point lead. And behind them there is a danger of promotion being decided too soon.

100% Me are still 2nd, but can be ignored - with Jack Wolfskin, Nespresso and Energie Diesel close behind them in the 3 other promotion spots - with a gap starting to emerge ahead of their next rivals.

It could easily still all change though, and I dont think you can count out the likes of Starbucks, Vespa, Santander, IKEA, Olympus, BMC or Wiggle just yet - although beyond that it is harder and harder for the teams to promote, yet a top 10 placing is well within reach.

I like that charge up the rankings, unfortunately with only one classic left Valverde will struggle to hold on too the overall, although as he has only raced in Europe the European tour should be his. As far as promotion goes, it would be awesome but my back up riders will have to pull out some amazing results.

Individual could go all the way to the final race - Taaramae is doing the Sun Tour

is that it? if so I have a chance, if not, is it bad form to pray for injuries?

Wow I suck, although it is a little ridiculous that Valjavec is 106th, considering that he is a very strong rider, I've had some really bad breaks this year

can we please not have the transfer season during the beginning of may, I have so much shit going on then I probably won't be able to drastically improve my team to give Israeli cycling its much needed boost?

He has that + Duo Normand, while Trofimov only has Plouay, and Pedraza is done

Transfers will have been done by May, so no need to worry

So max possible points are:
Valverde: 1186
Taaramae:1318 (assuming he wins all except the flat stages of Herald)
Trofimov: 1027

So Trofimov can't win, and Taaramae will cruise it if he dominates Herald.

I need him to fail then.

Ginanni could be a factor though - i think he has 3 remaining classics plus the Tour of Britain

Henao Montoya will be in Herald Sun Tour. He can beat Taaramae in the mountains, but he might not keep a lead in the time-trial.

I don't know if I like my chances as I only have 7 races left (counting with Plouay) and I don't know the other teams' calendar. Judiging by what SN said about Ginanni, Vespa can earn many points, but Energie-Diesel seems to be within reach. Anyway, I'm happy about this season and if I don't promote, there will be always a next. Smile

Wow, did not even consider if Lloret was in the top of the rankings. He has really impressed me, and and he'll race in Missouri, so with a good result he will hopefully move up to 8th or 7th.
Cadel Evans will be racing in Missouri too, and will hopefully grab a lot of points. He is also participating in the Herald Sun Tour and is aiming for securing the Asian Tour victory.

That's great news. I only have 5 races so will probably fall slightly but it really depends who else does well.
