To win Volta a Portugal, you'll have to be an very good climber due to the existante of two mountaintop finishes, a good puncheur as there are lots of hilly stages (including one which ends in a categorized climb) and you need to be able to perform good time-trials.

Brajkovic is the main favourite but Caruso and Trofimov among other excellent riders will try to prove the predictions wrong. Sprints are also an important souce of points in this HC stage race and the field contains rider like Granjel Cabrera and Corioni and there are others which are also very good.
Fierce competition is expected here!

Same, but with Lang.
And Trofimov must get time on his rivals on the hilly stages and don't lose too much in the mountains. Then he got a chance of winning.

Good to see that Nydam is being aggressive. KoM jersey is a good goal for him at this race. Here is to hoping Sinner pulls his head out of his ass on one of these sprint stages. Next stage should decide BMC's GC leader. Hopefully Peterson limits his losses, as he seems more logical than Stetina with that TT at the end of the race.

2nd stage in a row Looks like Gasparotto is going to ask for a considerably higher wage next season. Some very good efforts by Rovira

very bad stage for us: Cornu loses the jersey (ok that was expected), Weening hardly gets a top 30 place and Ardila Cano is nowhere.
Next season I really need to get some climbers

I must say that I am quite disappointed with this stage. I would prefer a stage full of attacks in which good time-trailists would lose several time. That didn't happen and Henao Montoya might not make the top 5, which is a goal of my team. But there's still another mountain to come, let's see what comes out of it. |

You have 4 of your goals achieved, I have 1. I would be devasted if I couldn't acheive more than an single one. |
