Welcome to the most important race in Austria, and a key indicator of who won't be at the tour
The main favourites are Cunego, Andy Schleck and Sella as the lack of a time trial means that this race is a favourite with the pure climbers. Also here are Pellizotti, Úran and Gil. All the decisive stages are at the beginning, before the sprinters have a chance to take over, although this looks like it will be yet another tour where Bennati will dominate those.

Some strong lineups here Schleck + Arroyo?
Anyway, no chance vs. Cunego! XD |

So, was there a gap on the peleton or all on the same time?

I played the second stage now. Out of interest, did every just empty their 50 something mountain climbers on this tour? I reckon there are at least 50 in this race.

I doubt theres 50 Though I do have 3 guys here with a mountain stat less than 60 - i guess theres more because the Tour and Austria require 17 different riders, and most PT teams have barely more than 20 riders in total, theres bound to be 'weaker' domestiques here.

The last group had 50 people and I think they were pretty much all under 60, then there were a couple of others further up.

Hopefully Pellizotti can defend his Top 5 spot in the final mountain stage, it would be a good result and it doesnt look likely that he will finish any higher

I had completely forgot about this being Pro Tour, thus not 'watching' it all. Not that it matters much, though, since I have my B-team here. |

Ardila placed about where he should be. Hopefully he will rise one spot, as that should be possible. Looking at the teams it's not the best possible outcome of this race, as all my nearest competitors, except Rabobank are ahead of me here. Hopefully it won't mean too much. Domina and La Gazzetta seems to be a lost case, so hopefully Wikipedia, Lipton and Accumalux won't get too many points :-)

Ok, so the next stage took a while, I'll start cropping etc. now but don't be surprised if the stage only comes up by mid afternoon.

Thanks, I think the intro is probably slightly over dramatic but it was amusing to write.

Well, the three best climbers have met... and in the end, Cunego took it. I'm happy!
From now on I think I have the rigth to say that I will not be satisfied with anything less then 3 more stage victories (Bennati), the overall and points jersey.
I'll need the points, as buffer for the Tour! |

Extremely good report. Well done!
And Ardila impresses, getting 5th overall. If he could keep that it would be very nice.

Nice report mb2612
Too bad Van Huffel faded away and none of my riders ever seem to make it to the break...

Real shame that for Healion.
Even bigger shame that McGee beat him. |
