EDIT: Unsurprisingly the cause was apparently a cocaine overdose. He wasn't even in his native country when it happened.
EDIT2: I should explain. The cause of death is pulmonary embolism and preliminary exams indicate this was likely brought on by a cocaine overdose. Basically Pantani's death all over again
He only had about 2 years at top level before succumbing to the drugs, but for those two years GOD could he ride a bike. He'd win time trials and cobbled classics, tell the peloton exactly where he'd attack in LBL and then do it and win the race, and then he'd annihilate the world's best climbers on the Vuelta's mountain stages.
The talent he had was quite unreal.
