Sorry, results are missing, so I just skipped it as I had no way of finding where my best rider finished. Smile

All against one in California

While 9 riders are participating in the Giro d'Italia, 8 other riders were racing oversees in The United States of America. California to be more precise. With Cannondale being an American sponsor and a stage win as a goal, we wanted to do well here. The AMGEN Tour of California is one of Peter Sagan's favourite races, so it was no surprise that he was here. Too bad the other teams did not like that at all. In the first 3 stages we got a bit of help from NetApp - Endura, but after that we were on our own. Add some lousy, outdated timing equipment , which resulted in no time gaps when Peter got some huge gaps. We are happy with the stage win, the top 10 in the General Classification and the Points Jersey, but we hope the organisation does a better job next year.

Disappointing Giro d'Italia from the team

We went to the Giro with great excitement, as the Giro is the best Grand Tour, especially as an Italian team. With a goal of a top 5 in the GC and hoping to get some stage wins, we came to Italy with Ivan Basso and Elia Viviani. However, it soon became clear we were in for a long ride. Viviani only managed to get 2 top 10 finishes, his highest a 4th place on stage 6. Basso on the other hand was never in contention for the top 5 in the GC. Losing time on his competition on almost every hilly and mountainous stage, it turned out to be disastrous Giro for our team. We can only hope the Tour and the Vuelta turn out better.

Decent performance in Belgium

We came to Belgium with the goal of a stage win. While not succeeding to get a stage win, we did get a top 10 in the GC with Kristjan Koren. Coming to Belgium with Jakub Krizan as our leader, we had to shift to Koren after the Time Trial, where Kristjan came in 9th. He managed to keep his top 10 in GC in the next 2 stages. Krizan came 21th in the GC.

Sagan triumphs in Philly

After the Tour of California, our team stayed in the United States to take part in the Philadelphia Cycling Classic. With clear favourite Sagan in our team, it was obvious that we wanted the race to end in a bunch sprint, which was uphill. We took control of the peloton all day and we managed to reel in all attacks. In the end it was a very easy victory for Peter, as our main competition Orica-GreenEdge displayed some very strange tactics.

Chasing stage wins in France

With no goals for the Dauphine, we came to France with no leader. With that in mind, we can't say that we are extremely happy with the performance of some riders. We did not get in breakaways a lot.

Only two riders actually managed to separate themselves from the rest of the team. First, Moreno Moser. Getting 2nd on stage 3 behind Sylvain Chavanel was an outstanding performance. Being our best rider on every stage, except the TT, shows how talented he is.

The other rider to show his class was Silvio Pennarossa. While he did not really show the world his qualities as a TTist yet, he sure did it here. Getting 2nd in the TT, only 27 seconds after Chris Froome and beating some very strong TTists, Silvio finally confirmed why we decided to sign him. Hats off to him.

Anonymity in Tour de Suisse

Just like in the Dauphine, we had no goals in the Tour de Suisse. With Viviani in the team, we hoped for some results in the sprints. Viviani was not recovered from the Giro yet, so he did not really get anywhere. 19th on stage 5 was his best result. With Caruso we hoped for some firepower in the mountains, but he was clearly not strong enough to go with the favourites most of the time.

All in all, the Tour de Suisse was a waste of race days.

With the second part of the season over, in which we had some ups and downs, the focus shifted towards the National Championships.

In Poland, Maciej Bodnar managed to beat Kwiatkowski in the Time-Trial.

In Slovakia, Peter Sagan won the RR against Peter Velits.

pcmdaily.com/images/shirtdb/can2maillo8185d2f9858a7ebebe143bb5d4672c8a672b6179.png

In San Marino, Silvio Pennarossa took home both the Time-Trial and the RR.

Special mention to Krizan, who finished 2nd in the Czech RR, behind Stybar.

Still, not all was great. We are quite disappointed with the RR in Italy. With the most beautiful NC jersey as a reward, we'd hoped for a bit more to challenge the other teams.

That's 2 going for the point jersey already, come on Argos, Lotto and OPQS Pfft

Countered goals:
Easy goal: Top 10 Lombardia
Medium goal: Stage Win Vuelta
Hard goal: Podium Tre Valli Varesine
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

With the end of the season closing in, it is time to decide the faiths of the EPIC riders on our team.

We have offered a new contract to Silvio Pennarossa. We hope he will sign on for next season, as he was of great value this year.

We have decided not to extend with Jakub Krizan. We feel he has not shown any improvement over the year to warrant a spot on our team.

We will now start looking at available EPIC riders and decide who would be an asset to our team.
