Congratulations, finaly some reason to celebrate in this HQ Wink

You should go to the BMC HQ. We have as many wins as Novo Nordisk. Nothing but abject misery and tumbleweed in there.

Or the Garmin HQ. We've got our own magazine, but no good news to put in it.

Congratulations on the win at Gent-Wevelgem from Peter Sagan, is sprint was just too strong for everyone else Wink

Mixed feelings in Argentina.

The season opener, running at the same time as the Santos Tour Down Under. We came here with Peter Sagan as our leader, which meant huge expectations. Those expectations rose when we got our hands on the startlist. Peter was by far the best sprinter. We were gunning for at least one stage win. The stage win did not come. Somehow Peter got beaten by Porsev on stage 1 and other times the break would survive, leaving Sagan to sprint for leftovers. However, while we did not get the stage win, Peter made up for that in the mountains, holding on to a 5th place in the General Classification and winning the Points Jersey. Our team also won the Team Classification, showing our strength in depth in San Luis.

Hi boss, I'm really happy, that you included me into the continental squad, I'll try to do my best, because honestly my performances were shitty so far.

For this part, I would love to take part in most of classics as well on Ronde van Belgie. On the other hand, I don't want to ride Giro really, too many big mountains for me.

See you soon, I hope I won't disappoint you.

Hello Jakub,

Do not worry too much about your performances so far. Peter told us you were a great addition to the squad in the early season. This season is mostly about gaining experience for you. Good luck in the Continental Championships.

About your mid-season schedule. You will be riding all the classics, from the Ronde van Vlaanderen till Liege-Bastogne-Liege. After that you will lead our team at the Ronde van Belgie. After that you will have some rest till the Tour de France.

Invisible in Catalunya.

While every race has some importance to it, we did not feel that the Volta a Catalunya held any interest for our team. That is why we did not send a very strong team to Spain. Our leader was Damiano Caruso, but with the strong opposition he never came close to doing something spectacular. Anyway, this was our last race of the early season and we now look forward to the mid-season.

With the first part of the season wrapped up, it is time for some rankings.

In the riders ranking it is our own Peter Sagan who leads by a comfortable margin, due to his consistent results as well as wins in Strade Bianche and Gent - Wevelgem. He is our main point scorer, which is why some people have called us 'Team Sagan'. Jakub and Silvio both scored some points and we are hoping they continue to do so.

In the teams ranking it is Omega Pharma - Quickstep with a big lead. With the depth in their team this is hardly surprising. We are very happy with the 7th place for our team and we hope to finish inside the top 10 at the end of the season.

Mid-season team preview

We are at the beginning of the mid-season, but let us look back to the Continental Championships first.

We did not have high hopes for the American and Aufrasian Championships, so it came to no surprise that we did not impress there. No podiums, or even a top 10 finish there. All our focus was on the European Championship. As so often this season we were a little bit disappointed. Peter Sagan did not finish the race, finishing out of the time limit. However, Alessandro De Marchi had great legs and finished a solid 9th, making sure we did not come to Valkenburg for nothing.

Our calendar for the upcoming months will see a few highlights for the team.
First of all, Il Giro d'Italia. The biggest race in these months and for us the most beautiful and most important race on the calendar. Of course we will be hoping to win Il Maglia Rosa. but it will be very hard to accomplish that. Which is why we are aiming for a top 5 in the GC.

Other than Il Giro, we are looking forward to the remaining spring classics in Belgium and The Netherlands. Peter will be looking for more victories here and we are confident he will put an end to some weak performances in his early season.

Last but not least, we will be travelling across the Atlantic Ocean to the United States of America, where we will hope to satisfy our sponsor with some great results in the Amgen Tour of California and the Philadelphia Cycling Classic.

Mid-season goals:

Easy goals:Stage win Amgen Tour of California
Top 10 Liege - Bastogne - Liege
Medium goals:Top 5 GC Giro del Trentino
Stage win Ronde van Belgie
Hard goals:Top 5 GC Giro d'Italia
Top 5 Paris - Roubaix

Silvio's schedule

These will be very busy months for Silvio Pennarossa. He will ride 4 stage races this period, with Il Giro as his main focus. While he is not great in the mountains, we believe he will be a great asset in the Time-Trials. He could aslo be of use in helping Viviani in the sprints. With a total of 40 race days, this is his chance to show us what he can do.

Giro del Trentino[16-19 April]
Tour de Romandie[23-28 April]
Giro d'Italia[2-26 May]
Criterium du Dauphine[2-9 June]

Jakub's schedule

Jakub will have a light schedule, mainly focusing on the classics in Belgium. With 7 race days in the early weeks of April and 5 race days at the end of May, his mid-season is split in two parts. The first part is mainly helping Peter Sagan, while the second part is a leader role in the Ronde van Belgie.

Ronde Van Vlaanderen[31 March]

Giro d'Italia

As mentioned before, Il Giro is our main objective. Our team is carefully selected and we believe they could be fighting for a top 5 in the GC and for stage wins.

Sagan on the podium in De Ronde.

After struggling for most part of the finale in De Ronde, Peter caught up with the group behind winner Van Avermaet and second place Tom Boonen. After recovering in the group a bit, Peter attacked and gained a minute to finish third. A great way to start our mid-season and we beleive third was the best that was possible today. Jakub finished 40th after doing great work for Sagan earlier on in the race.

Viviani sprints to third in Scheldeprijs

While winner Greipel and runner up Cavendish were a cut above the rest, Elia Viviani surely surprised us with his podium place finish. After a very mediocre first part of the season, we hope this will give him the confidence and morale just in time for Il Giro.

Invisible once again.

In the Vuelta al Pais Vasco, we started with the same team that was present in the Volta a Catalunya. While the riders were eager to do better in Pais Vasco, it turned out to be more or less the same as it was in Catalunya. Damiano Caruso was our best rider, finishing 24th in the General Classification. Not bad, but our team was pretty much invisible the entire race.
