2 months after we arrived in the hospital and my legs are almost healed, Tom is still here pushing around my wheelchair. We heard a shot from our room and Tom walked back with me. We turned the corner and there he was, Lachlan was asking the doctor all these questions and then he saw me and Tom.

The next day Lachlan was actually able to walk around and everything so Tom left and Lachy and myself were transferred to Iwate Rehabilitation Center. It was here at this center that I started to learn how to walk again and where Lachy learnt how to ride his bike again. We weren't sure what to think about this place. They told me I should be able to leave a month before the Vuelta which is a lot better recovery then I thought.

I will need to train like there's no tomorrow once I get out if I want to continue me schedule and race the Vuelta. Management said they will fix my schedule so I will be fit for the Vuelta (if we get in) or whatever other race I do at that point. Like they say Rehab is boring but effective. I'll catch ya later.

The Road to Recovery is long, hard and painful when you have a crash as horrific as Lachy and I had. It's always hard to get back on the bike after something like that happens. Life is hard when things like this happen. Not only for yourself but also for your family and friends that come and see you like this. For me it wasn't just that they couldn't stand seeing me like this. My girlfriend couldn't be in the same room as I was. I didn't see her once while I was recovering in hospital.

With my family not being able to come and visit me I have been watching a TV show called Arrow which my friend Joe gave me the full first season. When I watch it I think to myself, hey I feel like Oliver does sometimes. I feel like there is no one there for me, no one visits me any more other then Tommy and the occasional visits from other members of the team and management. I only get to talk to doctors, nurses and Lachy when he isn't sleeping. Now I know when you go to rehab everyone says that they will come visit you and be there for you but at the moment I've only got Lachy and Tommy (who visits very frequently). I guess I know how people feel now when they say no one is there for them.

As I kept going down the Road to Recovery somethings got better and somethings got worse. I have been given permission to go out and ride my bike again. Tommy comes down and we go out for hour long rides everyday while Lachy is sleeping. It's great to be back on the bike again. I feel more alive now then ever. Lachy will not be on the bike for at least another month. I have a race at the start of September which I hope to be back for.

Its July now so I have a few months to train and work really really hard.

You know how watching some shows you start to get addicted and start going a little bit loony? Yes......Well that was me with Arrow. I really loved that show. I watched it day and night. I'd sleep but only for a couple of hours. I just loved how it all worked together, how they have the flashbacks of his time on the island. It just all worked for me. It was a really great show.

I always thought to myself how awesome it would be to save a town or a city. I was always against killing but I always wanted a gun so when I got married and had kids I could protect them. When I finally got it I had a safe built into my bedside table. I kept the gun and a lot of ammo. My wife or kids didn't know what was in it because only I could get into it. It was weird because I cried when I saw people die.....

Finally Lachy and myself were able to leave the hospital and go back to Australia. Lachy is staying with me for a little while so I can keep an eye on him and watch out for him. It is July at the moment and I got home to my parents at the airport and Lachy's dad there too. Tommy had gone to a week long race so I took the look after Lachy shift. We all got hugs and kisses from everyone.

It was the greatest day ever. I really wanted to get home after months and months away from everyone. I got home and went to bed straight away. I only woke up at 3 in the morning when I heard something outside. I woke up, grabbed my gun and was ready to go. I went downstairs and saw shadows outside. When they came in I shouted "HANDS UP!!!!!!"

I stood there with my gun pointed towards the hooded man. I kept yelling who are you! They came in the door saying Don't shoot and with their hands up. I put my gun down and wondered who it was exactly. The person finally pulled down their hood.

It turned out I had known this person my whole life. We used to be inseparable. We were best friends until I was 18 and I moved away to cycle. Why had they come here, why did they want to see me? All these questions that they could and would answer. She was going to answer them right now!!!
